Part three of our CVC 028 dealer spotlight -

@highvoltagevinyl - Daniel Ranegar started High Voltage in 2019 as a collector’s side hustle and spent years working the Chicagoland record show scene before opening his Rogers Park storefront this Spring. He new and used vinyl plus hi-fi gear, with deep jazz, soul, and funk alongside budget bins for anyone just starting a collection.

@Fonoritmos is a Chicago-based collective dedicated to digging, preserving, and sharing rare Latin American rhythms on vinyl, with a heavy emphasis on classic Cumbia, Sonidera, and Wepa. Deeply rooted in the city's grass-roots music community, they frequently DJ and curate vinyl markets at neighborhood festivals, breweries, and pop-ups. Through their passion for vinyl, they bridge generations and celebrate the vibrant history of Latin music culture in Chicago.

Find them both Sunday Nov 8, 12–5 at Emporium Logan Square (2363 N Milwaukee). 12 dealers, 5 DJs, tacos from Kanto, and a scratch session in the back. Pull up early, the gems move first!

Chicago Vinyl Connection: Series 028 👉🏽🎶👈🏽

CVC fam — we're going home. Chicago Vinyl Connection (Northside) started right here at Emporium Logan Square back in 2021 — a small crew of dealers and music lovers who just wanted dig again. Five years and dozens of shows later, we're closing out the season by bringing it back to where it all began.

This time we're doing it bigger. Thousands of records across every format — LPs, 12"s, 45s — from dealers across Chicagoland stacked deep in soul, funk, jazz, hip-hop, house, world, latin, psych, and more. Five DJs on the decks keeping the room moving from afternoon into evening, an open scratch session in the back with Skratcher Chicago, and Kanto Taqueria posted up in the Food Truck if you need to refuel between crates.

Since our first show, it was never really about the records — it's about the room. Flipping through a bin next to a stranger, discovering your next favorite album, or watching someone finally find the one they've been hunting for years. The culture that's kept this city's vinyl community alive and growing, that's what CVC is here for!

Sunday, November 8, 12-5pm at Emporium Logan Square. Free entry.

ALL AGES* (*from 12-5pm only, 21+ to drink)

Good news! You can find us in some brick and mortar now! We’ve got vinyls of our latest single “We’ll Be Okay” located at various record stores throughout Chicago. Next time you’re diggin for records keep your eyes peeled for that psyched and slowed dub mix that you can find exclusively on the vinyl👀

Fabulous flyer by the one and only @elias_mason 🪄🪄

It’s been two months since the release of WBO and we want to thank you for all the support on this single thus far!

@freddiegibbs is one of the best MCs out right now!! He is one of the best storytellers in #hiphop and his production with producers like @madlib is so iconic!!

Coming from Gary, Indiana, #freddiegibbs is an example of someone who never gave up on his craft and kept going. His body of work, like the albums pictured here, are examples of his dedication.

I got these three albums at @lauriesplanetofsound and @highvoltagevinyl so please continue to #supportrecordstores
