Back in 2013, this photo of co-founder Eva and Badass rescue Captain Morgan (aka Cappy) reuniting went viral. The photo and corresponding story received immense media coverage, being featured in the New York Daily News, Buzzfeed, Britain’s Daily Mail, Hollywood Gossip and a list of others. The article on Huffington Post received 5 million likes on Facebook.

Eva was part of the rescue mission team to go down to Selma, Alabama to rescue Cappy and 17 other dogs. Our rescue partner down south, Wannabe Rescued, helped pull Cappy and the other Badasses from a high-kill shelter. We’ve been working with them ever since to rescue dogs from Selma and bring them up north to Brooklyn. Rescue is a community effort, and our partnership with Wanna is one we cherish and trust. To this day, we are proud to work together to save as many dogs as we can.

After Cappy got adopted, he reunited with Eva at one of our first street fests. His smile says it all, with one article labeling the image: “One Photo That Proves That Dogs Feel Gratitude.”

As we celebrate 13 years of making a difference in the lives of dogs like Cappy, we invite you to join us in helping to continue our mission. Your support, whether it’s through sharing our stories, volunteering, donating, or adopting, makes all the difference in the world to Badasses present and future in need. Here’s how to get involved:

1️⃣ Your support helps us continue saving dogs like Cappy. Consider making a donation or becoming a foster or volunteer to make a difference in the lives of more Badasses in need. Can you donate $5 today to our IG fundraiser to help us save more dogs like Cappy?

2️⃣ Ready to take your support to the next level? We’re on a mission to increase or recurring donors this month. Our organization depends on consistent generosity, and you can help majorly for as little as $5/month.

💌 PS - If anyone reading this works in PR and would like to help us get more press moments like this...send us a DM!!

I said Good Bye to my sweetest Baby Boy, Pony, tonight. My Punkin Pie, my Cute Fuzzy Booty Boy, My Sweet Baboo 💔
I’m heart broken
Monkey is my Soul dog, but Pony was my Heart dog.
I’ll miss you Baby Boy.
More pictures will be posted during this time of grief.

What an incredible pleasure it was to work with my pal @ava and @kaepernick7 on their new series on Netflix “Colin In Black And White”! I’m so lucky to work on stories that matter with people who value community and are not afraid to stand up for what is right!

"...bc if you didn't IG-it: did it even happen?"

ALSO SHOUT OUT to the crew behind the scenes of @nycsolidarity @nyclocal600youngworkers & @local600queer for organizing last weekends RALLY in NYC's City Hall Park : last two slides are from the event w/ my partner in crime who's way too tall for selfies. Was super empowering to be in that crowd amongst various trade/guild members all standing together in this fight.
