Remembering American novelist, short story writer, poet & collage artist •Sylvia Plath• who was born on this date 90 years ago. Notable works “The Colossus & Other Poems”, “Ariel”. In my collage, bibliophile Hilda pops into @mcnallyjackson in New York City to pick up “The Bell Jar”, Plath’s semi autobiographical novel published shortly before her death in 1963 (McNally Jackson cards available in my Etsy Shop) #anneheffernandesign #collage #collageart #sylviaplath #mcnallyjackson #mcnallyjacksonseaport #newyorkbookstore #anneheffernancalendar2022 #womenwriters ✂️📚

Turning the page on my calendar and this quote from Anne of Green Gables captures the mood best I think “I’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers”. Some days to look forward to this month; Bookshop Day, Architecture Day, World Post Day, Halloween and for fans of crime fiction “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was published 130 years on October 14 which inspired this collage scene with @mcnallyjackson #anneheffernancalendar2022 #anneheffernandesign #collage #collageart #mcnallyjackson #newyorkbookstore 🍁🍂📚

Today’s story is inspired by World Art Day which is celebrated on this date which is also Leonardo Da Vinci’s Birthday (B 1452). I feel very fortunate to have grown up in Ireland where art is very accessible to the public as the majority of galleries and museums are free and thanks to my mum for bringing us to them on a regular basis. So Hilda is starting her whirl wind visit to some of the galleries I’ve collaged @nationalgalleryofireland then onto New York to @metmuseum & @guggenheim then over to London for The National Gallery and nearby Portrait Gallery before finishing up @museelouvre in Paris to see The Mona Lisa and finally having a well deserved coffee break at a Café #worldartday #nationalgalleryofireland #themet #theguggenheim #thelouvre #collage #collageart #100dayproject #100daysofpapercollages #papercutstories ✂️

Today’s paper story is inspired by the iconic Empire State building which was completed 90 years ago on this date. The building has 1,860 steps, 73 Elevators and 6,500 windows! From the ground to the tip of its lightening rod the building stands 1,454 feet high. I forgot to mention that Hilda is an architecture fan so she bought a book on Manhattan buildings too, after some sightseeing it’s time for a coffee boost and some filling out postcards #empirestatebuilding #100dayproject #100daysofpapercollages #newyork #collage #collageart

Today’s NYC collage is inspired by designer and book loving Hilda who hailed a yellow cab to take her to McNally and Jackson’s Seaport branch so she could buy a copy of “The Great Gatsby” by American author F.Scott Fitzgerald which was published by @scribnerbooks on this date in 1925. No Saturday shopping is complete without a stop at a nearby café #100daysofpapercollages #mcnallyjackson #collage #collageart #thegreatgatsby #fscottfitzgerald #cutpaperstories #indiebookstore #newyorkbookstore #supportsmallbusiness #booksaremybag #100dayproject 🚕 ☕️ 📚

Today’s collage is inspired by February 14th and book lovers everywhere, unfortunately I don’t know who coined this phrase but it suits a Valentine’s bookshop window display #collage #drawingwithscissors #collageart #bookshop #illustration 📖✂️
