This past weekend, Bruce had the opportunity of a lifetime — traveling to Kansas City to compete in the Never Walk on the Hardwood National Tournament, the most competitive youth basketball tournament in all of America for 8th grade and below.

A huge thank you to Coach Hamilton, Coach Hill, and especially Coach Ash, who has been pushing for Bruce to join the Hoosier Phenoms for the past year and a half. We’re incredibly grateful we took the opportunity.

Bruce joined the #1 ranked 2033 team in the nation, and together they won the entire tournament, claiming the 2033 division title and cementing themselves as the best team in the country. This was a clash of the best from every corner of the country: Texas, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Indiana, California, Florida, and beyond.

But more than the championship, this was a breakthrough moment for Bruce. Competing on the biggest stage, surrounded by the nation’s top talent, he proved to himself — and everyone watching — that he not only belongs but thrives at the elite level. He returned from Kansas City brimming with confidence and a new understanding of who he is as a player.

Bruce’s identity is forming as a blend of Tyrese Haliburton and Steve Nash. Like Haliburton, he’s a poised floor general with a deep shooting range, downhill drives, and a knack for making the game look effortless. Like Nash, he sees the floor with advanced vision, makes split-second reads, and constantly puts teammates in a position to succeed.

He’s developing into a dynamic playmaker with elite 3-point shooting, able to control tempo, stretch the defense with off-the-dribble threes, and guard the point of attack with grit and intelligence. His ability to switch defensively, initiate offense under pressure, and elevate teammates gives him a unique impact that goes far beyond the box score.

This weekend was more than a tournament — it was a turning point. Bruce came in ready to contribute, and he left as a more confident, more complete player with a clearer vision of who he’s becoming.

The journey is just getting started.
