On the road with Nile Rodgers & CHIC 📸🕺🪩

It still feels surreal. Back in April, I opened an email that would end up taking me on the road with Nile Rodgers & CHIC. Seven weeks, tens of thousands of images, countless flights, late nights and early mornings later… it’s safe to say this is one I’ll remember for a very long time.

From Nile and the band to the incredible crew and team behind the tour, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of it this summer. Travelling through Europe and across the UK, photographing festivals, backstage moments and everything in between - often running on very little sleep, but loving every minute of it.

I’m excited to finally share some of my favourite frames and moments from the road. A small collection of memories from a pretty unforgettable chapter! 🪩

Nile Rodgers & CHIC transform Port Vell into a celebration of half a century of popular music

On June 21st, Barcelona's Port Vell was transformed into the most vibrant open-air dance floor thanks to Nile Rodgers & CHIC. At 73, the New York guitar maestro demonstrated why he remains a living legend of contemporary music, electrifying thousands with a show that was much more than a concert: a true collective celebration.

From the first chord of "Le Freak" to the triumphant finale with "Good Times," the night was marked by unstoppable energy and a repertoire that revisited the great milestones of half a century of music. The audience vibrated to timeless hits like "Everybody Dance," "I Want Your Love," and "Dance, Dance, Dance," enjoying each song as if it were the first time.

One of the most moving moments came with the tribute to Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson, fundamental pillars of CHIC, whose sonic legacies remain present in every riff and rhythm. The ovation at Port Vell reflected a deep affection for those who helped forge the band's unique sound.

Unmistakable nods to icons like Diana Ross—"I'm Coming Out" and "Upside Down"—, Madonna—"Like a Virgin" and "Material Girl"—, and David Bowie—"Modern Love" and "Let's Dance." Each song evoked memories and highlighted Rodgers's cross-generational influence across various styles.

Recent tracks like Beyoncé's "Cuff It" and legendary collaborations with Daft Punk, including "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance," underscored the enduring relevance and constant reinvention of the CHIC sound.

The finale was an explosion of joy, a fusion of “Good Times” and fragments of “Rapper’s Delight,” a symbol of hip hop’s commercial birth, reminding us of Nile Rodgers’s historic impact on world music.

Nile Rodgers & CHIC remain the beating heart of popular music, illuminating Barcelona and the world with their timeless groove.

Guiños inconfundibles a iconos como Diana Ross —“I’m Coming Out” y “Upside Down”—, Madonna —“Like A Virgin” y “Material Girl”— y David Bowie —“Modern Love” y “Let’s Dance”.
