To have shared this trip with fellow 1984 babies Josh and Austin was quite special to me. Each of us having curiosity, an appreciation for nature and culture and an active and full life made this possible and also a lovely time. If the point of friendship is to witness each other becoming more of who we are, count me as your friend. 🥂4️⃣0️⃣🥂

What was it about the beauty of Tenerife?

Coves formed by volcanic severity, craggy heaps of sandstone and pumice, pockmarked and salty, covered in crabs and sunlight. The ocean was alive and as soon as you dove in to the brilliant water, strange eddies would slip over your body inviting you deeper while creaks and sloshy beacons of oceanic language resonate into the base of your skull.

The dazzling scenes at the upper slopes of volcano Teide were brilliant. To watch from above a blanket of clouds seeping into the tropical forested hillsides on the one side and then to turn and your eyes are filled with textured streaks of weathered desolation brought to mind the complexities of duality and existence. Perhaps it was the altitude or my own contemplative musings having just had my fortieth birthday.

Suffice it to say, Tenerife took my breath away.
