If you don't get hype over these, you might have to get off this train 😆

When I came to @romainmaya and @redboxctudios two years ago with a vision to put founders first and our city on display, we were singing from the same script from day one. (No seriously, ask us about our karaoke club 😂)

What started as a branding idea has become one of my favorite parts of producing @startupcincy week. And it's been nothing short of a dream to play creative directing copilot to @romainmaya's lens.

These are the faces of people in our city doin the damn thing.

Problem solvers and inventors. Artists and owners. Dreamers and doers.

All Founders. All in.

And after another week of revving them up and putting gas in the tank, it's time to get some more people on this bus.

So beep beep, Cincy. Let's ride 🤘

Originally opened in Columbus, Ohio, three years ago, Hinoki Boutique has officially relocated to Over‑the‑Rhine (OTR). Owner Amy Fisher has signed a lease for an 1,800‑square‑foot storefront at 1326 Vine Street, owned by Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC).

With a focus on curating timeless, beautifully made pieces, @hinoki.co is designed to help clients feel confident, seen, and true to themselves. Rooted in values of empathy, intentionality, and creativity, the brand prioritizes sustainability, ethical sourcing, and thoughtful design, with Fisher aiming to create a shopping experience that feels warm and genuinely personal. She also strives to carry products made with natural materials, supporting minority- and women-owned businesses whenever possible.

Beyond expanding the product assortment, Fisher envisions the larger space as a hub for workshops, pop‑ups, and community‑driven events like yoga, Pilates, and jewelry making. Looking ahead, she also hopes to welcome local artists into the space to display and sell their work.

Hinoki will host a soft opening this weekend, offering limited hours Saturday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Next weekend, the boutique will host its official grand opening, set to take place Friday, May 29, through Sunday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. To celebrate, patrons will receive a gift with any purchase and can enjoy wine, champagne, or a cocktail while shopping. Following the grand opening, the boutique’s regular operating hours will be Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Growing up, I loved shopping at small businesses.
I didn’t realize it then, but those early experiences shaped so much of why Pivot exists: to create a space where people feel welcomed, remembered, and seen.

Now, being on the other side of it, Small Business Saturday means even more. Especially this year. It’s a meaningful season for us. One filled with reflection and so much gratitude for the community that has carried us.

And because this day is really about celebrating the heart of our communities, we’re tagging some of our go-to small businesses. We can’t tag them all, so we’d love to know: what small businesses do you love and want others to discover?

Share them below so we can all lift each other up today.
