Leadership requires sacrifice. Everyone wants to be at the top until they see the hard work, discipline, and commitment it takes to get there. At ETU, we rise by putting in the work and lifting others along the way.

Highlighting another star staff member this #HispanicHeritageMonth… Meet Fiscal Clerk Arroyo-Mendez, who has been part of our Property Team for more than six years!🎉🤝

In her role as a fiscal clerk, Arroyo-Mendez has the opportunity to work in various responsibilities of our Property Team, including maintaining and releasing inmate property.

A big part of her role also involves interacting with members of the public, many of whom are family members of individuals in our jail. She says one of the most rewarding parts of her job is being able to take the time to answer questions, listen to concerns and help people understand the process.

As a bilingual member of our team, Arroyo-Mendez is also able to communicate with members of our Spanish-speaking community. She says being able to provide that additional support during what can be a stressful time is one of the things she enjoys most about her role.

Thank you, Arroyo-Mendez, for more than six years of dedication to our department and for the work you do each day to assist our community! Fiscal Clerk Arroyo-Mendez poses in the property room, where she mainly works, holding an image property bag.

Honored to receive the Hispanic Youth Leadership Award. This recognition celebrates leadership, service, and the power of young Hispanic voices. It’s a reminder to embrace my culture, uplift others, and use my opportunities to inspire more young people to lead with purpose.

Thank you, Commissioner Nicole Wilson, for the nomination, your continued support, and your belief in my leadership. This honor motivates me to keep serving and opening doors for others.

Un noche fabulosa!!

Last Wednesday night it was a fabulous evening as some of the artists got together for the opening of the latest Gallery MCO exhibit, presented in partnership with the Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County and supported by Duke Energy.

The is open to the public and airport passengers through November 9th, así que ¡Vamos!

The exhibit highlights this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month theme, “Unidos, Somos Más (Together, We Are More),” showcasing artwork that reflects identity, heritage, and community from talented artists across Central Florida.

Extremely proud of been able to have one of my pieces at the ArtPort.

Be sure to check “La Dulcenea” out the next time you’re traveling through.

Thank you to the MCO @flymco and Hispanic chambers @hispanicheritageoc for the invitation to exhibit some of my pieces at the orlando airport for the Hispanic heritage month. The reception was fantastic and the people that run the event are very welcoming. Along with my partner and love @eightieslvchild who was my muse for the piece created in oils and other mediums. We also managed to check out the mills gallery @millsgallery.orlando show for the up and coming artist that are killing the game. Congrats to the much success to all who create and fulfill their destiny with their artwork. Please check out the works that will be on display at city hall and mco till November. Thanks !! #orlandoairportmco #hispanics #creative

Celebrating #HispanicHeritageMonth by highlighting one of our awesome staff members... Correctional Officer Ortiz!⭐🎉

For nearly 14 years Correctional Officer Ortiz has served our community and department through a variety of areas and roles. He started his career with Orange County Corrections in 2012 as a Detention Service Technician before attending the academy and becoming a certified Correctional Officer. He then began his role as an officer in BRC Detention on B2 Shift and worked in several areas throughout BRC before joining our Transportation Team in 2019.

Over the last 6 years, he’s held this specialty unit role of transporting inmates to and from medical appointments, court appearances, and other locations. Through this role, he can do more of what he loves - interacting with our community. He often takes the opportunity to participate in a number of community events, sharing more about the importance of the role and answering questions about corrections. Officer Ortiz takes advantage of training opportunities and spends time practicing skills such as firearms proficiency to stay prepared for his role as an Officer and in Transportation.

In each role he has taken on within our jail, he finds joy in his ability to help others. Whether it is working in our mental health unit to help inmates with the skills he learned from CIT training, or teaching kids how the lights and sirens work on our vehicles, we appreciate your continued dedication to impacting our community, Officer Ortiz! Thank you for all you bring to the team.👏 Officer Ortiz’s stands in uniform in front of one of our Corrections vehicles outside of our jail.
