My love of Halloween knows no bounds, and Sara and Jill at @hivebookshop decided to surprise me for my birthday with these incredible @magpiescakes coffin cakes today at work.

I love working here, I love talking to people about books, I love horror, and I love Halloween season. What a Tuesday!

I’m so glad I went to the poetry event at @hivebookshop tonight! I didn’t even know we had a new (super cute!) indie bookstore until I saw the invite to this event my friend, Linda Parsons, sent. It was a delight hearing Linda and Noah read!

The third annual Book Lovers Night at Lakeshore brought hundreds of readers to the Park for an evening of book shopping capped off with a screening of Pride & Prejudice at sunset. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Park. We already can’t wait til next year.

Next week! Join me and Knoxville Poet Laureate Linda Parsons (@lindawordgardener) at The Hive Bookshop (@hivebookshop). Linda has been a great advocate for my work, and I’m excited to share the evening with her. Both Titanfall and Valediction are available from Madville Publishing (@madvillepub).

One of my plot lines in Two Minutes Over Berlin is based on Mary’s grandmother, who was a riveter in OKC. Here is that family, at home in Purcell before the war

This is where I’ll be for the next hour or so. Just ignoring the housework and diving into a good book. If you’re in Knoxville I recommend @hivebookshop for a few new reads.

Every mom needs a village around her to support and encourage her in the journey of motherhood. At FLOW, we regularly talk about the importance of community for maternal mental health and infant wellbeing.
We were thrilled when we asked local midwife and entrepreneur Rebekah Mustaleski to share her perspective on the importance of friendship and community in the postpartum period, what she’s doing to help foster it @thebunnyhiveknoxville and she also shares her top 5 favorite places to look if you need help building village of your own:
