This I learned from a pastor from Asia: We have confidence that the gospel of Jesus is worth living for, and because of that, it’s also worth dying for. Faith is so much simpler than we make it here in America. There is no halfway or on the fence, it is a full life commitment. It’s easy to have “faith” in America because we already have everything physical. We often don’t rely on our faith everyday to get us through. Their faith is simple, but it’s true, and it’s radical. The Christians I met in Uganda, as well as many other countries in Africa and Asia, live out a radical faith. (Phil 1:21) (Rev 3:15-16) (Matt 6:24)

Lord, let my heart continue to be broken for the nations, and give me the obedience and thirst to be the vessel you call every one of us to be to carry your gospel to all. Let me not do the Great Commission injustice by waiting for the call to go, but rather going until I’m called to stay. May my faith be radical, because anything other is not true faith. Lord, I am humbled. All praise, honor, and glory be to you only Jesus.
(Luke 14:25-33) (Matthew 28:19-20) (Psalm 67)

missing boston and praising Jesus for being able to go on mission as a family for the first time. we’ve never taken the boys on a trip like this but this year we knew they were ready.
preston jumped in and did everything the high schoolers had to do, and they both truly thrived on the streets sharing the gospel.

it was a tough trip, but here’s what they both said to me…for the first day they sat and watched our older students who have done trips like this before. preston especially was hanging on every word. they observed. they listened. and they learned. and then they were ready. i watched that in real time with preston, and it was truly so special to see. i didn’t have to tell either of my boys what to do or how to do it. they watched and learned from their role models and friends in the ministry.

to say i am proud is an understatement. proud of my own 2 but also so proud of the others i love like my own. to watch them grow up into the leaders they are now and experience them pouring into porter and preston is something i’ll never be over. and preston conquered his fear of flying ✈️

ministry is hard, but investing in the next generation is always worth it. we are commanded to go, and so we go. i’m just so thankful for the opportunity we had to go together 🤍
