Hello and happy October 😱 In spirit (pun intended) of this month and the 2026 Physics Nobel Prize, October’s AoT will be all about neutrinos, commonly referred to as ghost particles 👻
We hope to see you 7pm next Tuesday at @hkbrewingco !

We have two speakers lined up, Jorge Torres Espinosa and Vedant Basu, both post-doctoral researchers at the University of Utah and neutrino experts. Come hear about what we can learn about neutrinos, how and where we detect them, and the future of neutrino astronomy. More about their talks below!

📆Tuesday, October 27, 7pm
📍HK Brewing, 370 Aspen Ave, Salt Lake City
🎟️ Free to attend, must be 21 or older

Neutrinos, ghost-like particles and physics Nobel prize enablers with Jorge Torres - Neutrinos are extremely hard to detect particles, earning the nickname “ghost-like particles” for this reason. However, they can answer important questions about our Universe, so we are very interested in studying them. Because of their relevance, the Nobel Prize has been awarded on five occasions to scientists who study them, most recently this year. This talk will explain what neutrinos are, why we care about them, and the ingenious methods we’ve developed to detect them.

Chasing Ghosts at the South Pole: The IceCube Neutrino Observatory with Vedant Basu - Neutrinos are some of the most abundant particles in existence, and act as messengers from the deepest reaches of the cosmos. Detecting these particles is remarkably difficult, but yields incredible insights into the most extreme environments in the Universe. So how do we find these ghosts lurking everywhere around us, and what does the South Pole have to do with any of this? Join us for a spooky spiel about Nobel Prize winning research from the edge of the world!

Politics, locally made booch, small bites, community & a custom bandana stitched with the Utah mountains?

I’m there.

I recently joined Whitney Rose, Ben McAdams, and fellow Utah creators and changemakers at @hkbrewingco to connect over why voting matters.

We may not all vote the same way, but most of us want the same things: healthy families, safe communities, affordable housing, and a little breathing room to rest, create and be with the people we love.

Ben and I talked about mental health, and what families need to thrive, not just survive: affordable healthcare, childcare, and housing. He believes working full time should mean stability and time with your children or people you love.

Whitney and I talked about pursuing your own authentic path and the power of using your voice.

What’s bringing you to the ballot this year? Let’s talk about it in the comments. 👇🏽

Utah, make your vote count:
• Register by Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. at vote.utah.gov
• Missed it? Register in person on Election Day, Nov. 3
• Mail ballots need the last four digits of your ID
• Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Election Day

Your vote is powerful. Use it.✨

Thank you for a lovely evening discussing the change we want to create as a collective ❤️ @benmcadamsforcongress @whitneywildrose @hkbrewingco
