Sometimes you just meet people and the bond is instantaneous. That’s how I felt in 2007 when I met @wright_one and @hkeetswright

Mark and I worked at The Worldwide Leader in Sports/The Mouse together for a good chunk of time. Heather then paved the way for me for another adventure where I led a high-functioning editorial content team at a popular agency.

What’s most important, though, is that they welcomed me in as family. They were both there when my mom died and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Mark became the big brother I had no idea I needed. Heather is Black Woman Magic personified and is a constant inspiration to me. I can always call them. And that’s love. Thank you both for being part of my story. Love y'all. (also ignore my ringing phone!!!)

🗣️Dr. Alison Thompson — founder of Florida-based nonprofit @ThirdWaveVolunteers — is a real one. Her dedicated team arrived in Jamaica almost as soon as Hurricane Melissa made landfall last October.

🗣️With experience responding to disasters around the world, she knew rural communities like Slipe and Cataboo in hard-hit St. Elizabeth wouldn’t be first in line for help—not even from the government. So she went there first, navigating flooded, muddy roads to deliver critical supplies.

🗣️One of their stops was Cataboo Basic School, which had lost a large portion of its roof and suffered severe interior flooding. Team Third Wave brought a ray of sunshine to CBS’ teachers and students—literal light in the darkest of moments.

🗣️Dr. Thompson is @Wright_One’s special guest on the #PressPausePodcast, where she shares what she sees as the road ahead for Jamaica and urges us all to keep Jamaica in the headlines—because recovery will take years. #EpisodeLinkInBio

🗣️Listen✔️ Like✔️ Share✔️ Support✔️

#PressPausePodcast #ThirdWaveVolunteers #JamaicaSTRONG💪🏽

🎧engineer: @marehax
🎥editor: @jdubclt

🔺When I look at you, I see myself. If my eyes are unable to see you as my sister it is because my own vision is blurred. And if that be so, then it is I who need you, either because I do not understand who you are, my sister, or because I need you to help me understand who I am. - Soror Lillian P. 🔴I’m not gonna lie … Father’s Day hit different this year. The love floodgates—from my entire village—opened like never before. I started the day in my happy place (on the pitch!) alongside my two Young Kings, and spent time with fellow dads who truly speak my language.

My first call was from my own father—a blessing in itself. And when I got home, the Queen had outdone herself with a special Father’s Day meal, gifts and cards.

For real, for real—ya boy felt good. Achy joints and all, I’m planning to carry this warm feeling through the rest of the month.

One Love🙏🏽
