Despite the suffering endured by Palestinians since the occupation of their homeland, steadfastness and hope for justice survive. These qualities are symbolised in the determined stance of ‘Handala’, a creation of the Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali. In Arabic, ‘handala’ means ‘medicinal bitter desert fruit’. According to Naji, “Handala was born aged ten – the age Naji was when he was expelled from his village, Al-Shajara, in 1948. Handala will remain that age and will become normal again only when the Palestinian homeland is restored. Naji was assassinated in 1987 in London.

🌻 A day full of joy, creativity, and complete immersion in everything I created throughout this workshop. I felt such a beautiful connection with my piece, from the first idea to the final result. And seeing something that once existed only in my imagination come to life was truly special. I’m so grateful I got to be part of this sculpture workshop, explore the sculpting process, and turn the ideas in my head into something I could actually create with my own hands. 🤍🌻 Sculpture art • Sculpture workshop • Sculpting process • Handmade art • Creative process • Contemporary art • Palestinian artist • Gaza artist #sculptureartist #SculptureWorkshop #sculpting #ArtProcess CreativeProcess HandmadeArt ContemporaryArt ArtistJourney PalestinianArtist #gazaartist

The cry of rooting.. The meaning of the sculpture : It embodies the suffering of the Palestinian olive tree as it confronts policies of uprooting, and transforms pain and violation into a visual cry that expresses resilience and attachment to the land.

So che siamo in tanti.
