I keep thinking about luck. Being lucky. Creating luck. Bad luck. Better luck next time. Lucky you!

All those things people say and feel and think and do.

As we plan for the last quarter of the year (!), I’ve been thinking a lot about clarity, and sticking to a plan. Often it feels like luck when that goes to ‘plan’. Or is it just good planning! I love a plan. And we stick to a plan. Or at least try to. And with some luck, plans go to plan.

Anyway three of our team had birthdays this week. And three of my best friends too. Chance, luck, or meant to be? Who knows. But it made me think about all the people who somehow end up in your life at the right time.

In my family - red has always been a sign of luck - as have signs. And so looking out for red and lucky signs somehow adds to feeling lucky and looking for luck.

We’re in a super interesting transitional moment. This feels like luck too. It’s real - we’re growing up. It feels like F&F V1 becoming V2. And my goodness, that feels lucky.

I would be remiss not to mention a big transition next week when @amaliaschliemann moves on from working with us. For me, meeting Amalia was the best luck ever. A friend of a friend (so often it happens like that - lucky? Or meant to be?) said we should meet. F&F was just starting and I thought maybe we’d need a little help. “Two or three days a week” I said. That lasted a week. Together we did things like buy a domain, find an office and set up templates and workflows and all that super unsexy stuff. That paired with a lot of creative fun and some crunch times too. But with a lot of luck, that turned into over three years of joy.

When people leave businesses it’s often swept under the rug, but I want to celebrate this as an incredible stint of work together, and knowing that she is going on to more brilliant things.

And as we decided over lunch earlier this week, by some stroke of luck when people leave us we’re &Family now, not just &Friends.

So anyway here is to more luck and love. I’m grateful every day for the F&F team, past, present and future. Because maybe luck isn’t just something that happens to you. Maybe it’s something you create together.

Lucky us.

Welcome to The Florence.

Florence is a name with history. Feminine without being precious. Strong without needing to announce itself. The root of it means to flourish, bloom, and prosper.

Success is often measured from the outside — what we build, what we earn, what title we hold.

Flourishing is more expansive. It’s having work that matters and a life beyond it. A place to land, and a table where there’s room for you.

Because flourishing rarely happens alone.

That’s what we’re all looking for—not another thing on our calendar, but a room that reminds us what’s possible.

—

Years ago, this room only existed in Margaret Cheatham’s mind.

She imagined women gathering around a table, exchanging ideas, and building relationships. She believed in that vision long before there was a lease, a floor plan, or a community waiting to walk through the door.

Our Brunch & Learn was one of those moments when you realize something you’ve imagined for so long has started becoming real.

Women meeting for the first time and immediately finding common ground. Conversations flowing naturally. Founder stories exchanged alongside kids bedtime routines. New friendships beginning over baked goods and hot coffee.

The walls aren’t finished yet, but the feeling is already there.

It was a reminder that every space begins as an idea someone is willing to believe in long before everyone else can see it.

34+ weeks and somehow I look nothing like Kylie Jenner. My coach asked me “what was on fire” and said everything and nothing because the end of pregnancy is all consuming and I’m headed toward apathetic. IYKYK. A reminder for why “seasons” are real and a chance to slow down, consume watermelon by the pound, and lean on my incredible team.
