Tess braved the Maryland downpours (resulting from Hurricane Isaias down South!) to attend the Enchanted Fireflies workshop at @hocoarts’ new location in the Capitoline Center in Ellicott City! She said it gave her foundational tools to fill like she could enjoy trying watercolors at home. I hope to offer this new workshop again in less hazardous weather!

What a summer! Look back with us at the people, places, and partnerships that made this season unforgettable.

📍 Denver, Colorado

We traveled to Denver to meet with the Advisory Committee formed by the Denver Arts Council. Together, we’re facilitating community engagement, reconciliation, and reflection around Denver’s monuments. While there, we also had the chance to explore downtown Denver’s incredible public art scene!

📍Howard County, Maryland

We joined community members for the final public event before the Howard County Arts & Culture Plan is submitted to the County Council for review. The gathering was an opportunity to share key recommendations and hear community ideas as Howard County looks toward putting the plan into action over the next 10 years. We’re proud to help shape a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving future for arts and culture.

📍 St. Johns County, Florida

We visited St. Johns County as we partner with the Cultural Council to develop a new Arts Plan. From connecting with the Hastings community and reaffirming its Placemaking Plan to meeting with leaders across tourism, parks and recreation, libraries, municipalities, and the arts, the visit highlighted the power of collaboration in shaping a vibrant cultural future.

📍Canal Winchester, Ohio

We are working with the City of Canal Winchester on developing a comprehensive marketing strategy and are excited to see how the intel gleaned through engagement will shape it. As part of that project we had pop-ups at the Farmer’s Market and the Blues and Ribs Fest.

📍Frederick County, Maryland

We had the pleasure of visiting Frederick County, Maryland for a discovery visit! We explored the county through walking and driving tours, while also meeting with the Mayor and Steering Committee to learn more about the community’s vision for its future. After recently completing a Historic Preservation Plan for Frederick County, we’re incredibly honored to continue our partnership by helping shape an Arts & Culture Plan that celebrates the Frederick’s creativity, heritage, and unique sense of place.

We’re grateful to the passionate community members, artists, leaders, and partners who continue to make

Love this Brother -- @hocogovexec --
and all his team -- greatness walking.

"Some men are Platforms"
(for Dr. Calvin Ball, III)

Some men are
platforms, who rise

from random
dances with earth's

tectonic plates. These
mountains could

not tell you how
or why they rose—

from molten floors
to snowcaps

dressed in
clouds. Others

climb because their
vision demands

the choice be made
to stand—and so

they do. Their souls
are moral rebar

born inside
a concrete.hope.

Storms rehearse
their daily undoing—

yet every morning
finds them

holding up the sky
for all of us.

A few spots remain in my weekend workshop Oct 23-25!

Come join me in my studio to make an 11x14” mosaic that tells your story! You’ll have access to my large selection of materials, tools for each participant, instruction and individual guidance.

Prior mosaic experience is helpful but not necessary. Artists of all skill levels are already registered, so you will be in good company.

My studio is located in the heart of Historic Ellicott City, steps (literally) away from shopping, sightseeing and great restaurants!

Registration link in my bio ⬆️ along with more details.

Attended the reception for Dimension: A Love Letter to Collage & Assemblage last night, held at @hocoarts Gallery I 🍾🎨The exhibit was created as an ode to assemblage pioneer and activist Betye Saar and the artworks on display celebrated the beauty of repurposed materials and found objects. Deeply grateful to have been included in this show, and a thank you to @wcadcorg for making it possible!
