The Mountain We Climbed
For the 19 students and 4 leaders who journeyed together
We packed our bags with gear and grace,
Left behind the noise, the race—
To Tennessee, where mountains rise,
We met the Lord beneath wide skies.
We hiked through trails, both steep and long,
Sang Dollywood’s delight in song,
We floated rivers, calm and wide,
While deeper currents pulled inside.
We asked aloud, “Who am I now?”
Not what the world will say or vow—
But Who does Christ declare I am?
A child of love, His precious lamb.
Some things we knew we had to leave—
Old weights that made it hard to breathe,
We named our fears, our shame, our past,
And let God take them, hold them fast.
Then step by step, with hearts unmasked,
We climbed together, laughed and asked:
“Who’s with me on this sacred trek?”
Nineteen and four, no one held back.
At peaks we paused—breathed in the view,
Saw just how far God’s brought us through.
But in the valleys, dark and deep,
We learned it’s there He doesn’t sleep.
Each moment held both fun and flame—
A tug of joy, a holy name.
And when the stars lit up the skies,
We felt His presence in our lives.
Now camp is done—but not the climb,
We head back home with hearts aligned.
What’s next? We go with eyes now clear,
Our names secure, our Shepherd near.
