U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Stephan Baccus rode 10,165 miles in just 10 days on a Harley-Davidson, touching all four corners of the contiguous United States as part of a journey he called Ride for Resilience.

The ride meant averaging more than 1,000 miles per day, but the goal went far beyond completing an endurance challenge. Baccus had seen the impact of veteran suicide firsthand, including losing fellow Marines, and created the ride to raise awareness around veteran suicide and honor those who continue fighting battles after returning home.

Baccus spent $1,350 on fuel alone, installed new tires before setting off and needed another rear tire after finishing. Between preparation, fuel, food, lodging, maintenance and equipment, he calculated the entire journey at $5,163.
