What’s the purpose behind the play? What are your goals? How and why do we use toys/games in session? The toy is SIMPLY a tool to CONNECT with the kiddo . Its about the connection & how you can use a toy/game as a medium to help the kiddo communicate, regulate, turn-take, motor plan, work on fine motor & gross motor skills, executive functioning, problem solving, following directions, impulse control, imaginative play, increase attention span and joint attention, social skills, turn taking, cognitive development and toys can even be used as a reinforcer. At times a basic doll house with figurines or paper & colored pencils is how a child will express emotions such as fears, sorrow, bullying etc..
What you use and how you use it depends on many factors such as; the kiddos interests, the goals you are working on in your program, the development age of the client (doesn’t always match with chronological age.) So as you can see we are playing with a purpose❤️
What are some of your favorite activities to connect with your kiddos? #theactionisintheinteraction

Meet our Holding Hands mascot, Daisy 🐶♥️. Spending time with animals has been shown to lower blood pressure and heart rate, reduce anxiety and increase endorphins and oxytocin. Raise your hand 🙋🏻‍♀️ if your family pet has provided you with some emotional support during the Covid pandemic?
