Why does a pad still come in a brown bag?

That's the question 17-year-old Alayna has been asking for four years.

What began as her passion project, All By Alayna, turned into bags sold at school carnivals. She raised over PKR 100,000 and donated it to girls' education in underprivileged schools.

This time she went further. With the Rotary Club Sunset Millennium of Karachi and Santex (Butterfly), Alayna installed free pad dispensers in the girls' washrooms at The House of Learning, Karachi.

No brown bags. No shame. No girl missing school because she couldn't afford a pad.

As her mother Aisha said, she's always been an empathetic child, but no one knew it would become this.

Periods are natural. Access should be too. 🩸

Let's fight period poverty, together.

Mental health is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

Honoured to participate in the Provincial Stakeholder Event on Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing in Sindh, organized by @bargadyouth in partnership with the @thebritishasiantrust and in collaboration with @tmuckarachi

As someone working on community development through @holfoundations , I believe every young person deserves access to mental health awareness, support, and a safe space to grow.

Through our collaboration with @savairaorg Organization, we are also working to integrate mental health and wellbeing initiatives into our community work.

Let’s move beyond conversations and turn our commitments into meaningful action for the mental wellbeing of our youth.

Thank you, @pherountal , for remembering me and including me in this important initiative.

October 10, Saturday :Breaking the silence on menstrual health, one classroom at a time. 🌸

On Saturday, the Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium @rcksunsetmillennium together with @allbyalayna and @santexproducts Private Limited, held a menstrual health awareness and product distribution drive at KaraBhai Kareemji Government School, Lyari.

The goal was simple: help young girls and mothers talk about periods openly, and tackle the absenteeism caused by social taboos and a lack of hygiene facilities.
What we saw in that room mattered:
🔹 Myths, busted. Alayna Ellahi, founder of @allbyalayna , led an honest, interactive session. Our President, Dr. Kausar Malik, spoke about health, hygiene and open conversations with parents.
🔹 A solemn vow. Students pledged to put their health first and never miss school because of their cycles.
🔹 Sustainable solutions. Sharmeen @shumop shared insights from the reusable pad project used during the floods.
🔹 Male allyship. @allbyalayna father stood alongside @hunainabbashol Abbas (Founder & MD, HOL Foundation) and influencer Ali Soomro @omnomzilla , because menstrual health is everyone’s conversation.
🔹 Lasting change. Santex installed working pad dispensers in the school washrooms and donated a 12 month of supplies
🔹 Gifts from the heart. Alayn@ayesho0 her mom also distributed tote bags, juices and candies to the students, so every girl left the session with a smile.
🤝 A special thank you to @holfoundations @areebayaqoob @hunainabbashol brought together 60 girls from the Takmil accelerated learning program classes to be our audience,
🏢 Our corporate partner, Santex Private Limited. Ms Hania Kasbati and Ms Erum Anwer of Santex made the dispensers and supplies happen.
💗 To Alayna: your work is more than an event. It shows a generation that periods are not something to hide, and that empathy begins when we choose to talk. We hope to bring similar initiatives to more schools and communities. No girl should miss her education because of her period. #MenstrualHealth #PeriodPoverty #Rotary #RotaryClubKarachiSunsetMillennium #GirlsEducation #MenstrualHygiene #CommunityService #Karachi #Pakistan #ServiceAboveSelf #GenZ

These 700 children don’t feel like just students to me — they feel like my own sons and daughters. ❤️

Just like every parent thinks about their children day and night, I find myself thinking about these 700 children — their education, their dreams, their future, and the life they deserve.

Areeba and I spend our days working for them, trying to create opportunities, solve problems, and make sure they never have to give up on their dreams because of a lack of resources.

And the truth is, After ALLAH, we are able to do all of this because YOU stand with us

Your support gives these children the confidence to dream bigger, study harder, and believe that their future can be different.

These 700 children are not just our responsibility — they are our family.
And when you stand with us, you become a part of their journey too. ❤️

We went there hoping to bring a little happiness to their day, but came back with hearts much fuller than before. 🥹🤍

The little smiles, innocent laughs, tiny conversations, and beautiful moments will stay with us for a long time. 🫶🏻

Sometimes, the smallest moments leave the biggest impact ❤️🤌
