Two aligned minds, one shared intention—from Lisbon to Dublin ✈️✨

I have some exciting news! My brilliant friend and fellow somatic coach @hollierottman is flying in from Lisbon so we can co-facilitate a live workshop together in Dublin.

We share the same passion for body-based somatic stress release, and we’ve designed an experiential afternoon focused on what we both care about most: The Art of Softening Tension.

We have a strong sense that gathering in community—especially in person—can have an almost instant positive impact on letting go of physical tension. There is something so powerful about dropping your guard in a shared, supportive room.

If your shoulders have been up by your ears and your body feels overdue for a deep reset, this workshop is your space to un-clench.

📍 Location: Segotia, Rathmines, Dublin

🗓️ Date: Saturday 19th September 2-4pm

🌿 Focus: Somatic Practices & Breathwork

Because @hollierottman is traveling over specifically for this, space in the room is intentionally kept small.

A friend asked me to create a wedding gift.

The bride loves the ocean.
And she loves blue.

So instead of buying something, we made something.

That’s what I love about handmade gifts.

They aren’t just objects.

They carry time.
Thought.
Intention.

And every time someone sees them, they remember the story behind them.

Not perfect.

Personal. 🤍

Before becoming a mother, I barely thought about community.

Then my son arrived, and suddenly I realized something:

When you raise children far from home, nobody gives you a village.

You have to build it.

Over the years, in San Francisco, Barcelona, Zurich, and Lisbon, I found myself doing the same thing again and again.

Inviting people over.
Starting groups.
Organizing gatherings.
Accepting invitations when I was tired.
Showing up even when it felt uncomfortable.

Not because I wanted to become a community builder.

Because I didn’t want my son to grow up alone.

I wanted him to have friends, family friends, trusted adults, people who knew his story and watched him grow.

Looking back, some of the most important relationships in our lives started with a simple invitation.

People back home don’t always see this work because their village already exists.

Many of us have to build ours from scratch.

Again and again.

For our children.

And for ourselves too.

❤️

If you’re raising children far from home, save this for the days you feel like you’re the only one trying.

My Sunday …

This was technically a clay workshop.

But somehow it turned into pool games, trampoline jumps, ice cream, wine, relaxed moms, exhausted kids, and the kind of Sunday that becomes a childhood memory forever 🤍

I need a Shero….

I met @nancy.easton at the tail end of my 40-year career in school food service, and I only mention that because I truly wish I had met her much sooner. @hollierottman, A mutual friend introduced me to Nancy and @wellnessintheschools and from the very beginning, I understood that this was something special.

Over four decades, I had the privilege of being involved in many wellness initiatives. Some were impactful, others well-intentioned, but very few transformed an entire school community the way WITS did. What made Nancy’s work extraordinary was that it never focused solely on food. She understood that true wellness touches every part of a child’s life, nutrition, culinary, movement, education, dignity, culture, and community. WITS created environments where children could thrive, not just eat healthier meals.

Nancy brought people together in a way that inspired action. School staff, families, students, chefs, educators, and advocates all became part of a shared mission to improve the lives of children. That kind of influence cannot be measured only in programs or statistics. It is measured in healthier students, empowered communities, and the lasting belief that children deserve better.

I am honored to call Nancy my friend, and I will forever cherish everything she did to ensure WITS made a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Her leadership, vision, and compassion left an undeniable mark on school wellness efforts across the nation. She more than deserves every bit of recognition that comes her way.

Helping kids adapt to a new country doesn’t happen by chance.

Most of these kids weren’t living here a year ago.

Different countries, different schools, different friends.

And like many parents, we feel it every time they say they miss their old life.

So we don’t leave it to time alone.
We create routines.

We organize moments like this.

Not because of the activity itself—but because of what it creates around it.
Because adaptation doesn’t come from one big change.
It comes from small, repeated moments.

This is where kids start building friendships again.

Where “new” becomes familiar.

And it’s not just for them.

For many of us parents, also new here, this is how we build our own sense of belonging too.

One afternoon at a time.

One connection at a time.

This is how a new home is built.

Happy Mother’s Day to these amazing moms ❤️
And thank you all for joining last weekend—it meant more than you know.

Sunshine + tile painting 💛
Sunday ‘s workshop had a special twist — a whole family joined the table for a family art day, and it was so lovely to see everyone creating together.
Sketches, colours, little hands, coffee-inspired tiles, flowers, and one very proud Minecraft design.
What I love most is that everyone starts with the same blank square… and every tile becomes something completely different.
Swipe for the process, the tiny handprint memory, and the finished tiles from today.
And yes — a little studio milestone:
The first man joined the workshop today and immediately painted a coffee tile ☕️

Today was one of those little moments that fills your cup. ☕️🤍
We’re a group of moms from different countries, and every week we meet for a “creative coffee” — a simple way to slow down, chat, and make something with our hands.
This week’s activity: clay cups 🏺
Lots of laughter, messy fingers, and that calming feeling you get when you’re shaping something from scratch.
Now the cups are drying, and next week I will take them to fire than glaze and finally a last firing 🥂💕
Can’t wait to see how they will turn out !!!
