“The life I love is making music with my friends...I will always love you.” Four years ago I decided to completely revamp the choral program and start two new choirs. That first year of Chamber Choir I had 12 girls and a freshman class that was full of talented singers in the first ever Concert Choir. After a 12 minute Disney medley at the Pops Concert, I convinced a bunch of those Concert Choir kids to join Chamber Choir the next year and keep going. We picked up a few more as we went along until we ended with the group of 80’s crazies you see here. (James, Izzy, and Alicia we’ll have to photoshop you in here. 😂) And they have had a profound and lasting impact on the choral program at Shoreland. I wish we could bring you all to Choral Fest with us next year when I clinician! Just like a regular family, our choir family has filled our rehearsals with good days and challenging days. One of the singers requested a country song for this years pops concert. When I heard the arrangement and lyrics from the mashup of Forever Country, I knew this was the one. What a talented group of senior musicians I have to say goodbye to this year. You’re looking at future farmers, teachers, business leaders, fire fighters, artists, cosmetologists, husbands and wives, moms and dads, church leaders, etc. but most of all…a powerhouse of Christians who love their Savior and I pray stay close to Him their entire lives. After the concert last night, an audience member suggested that I invited anyone who has been a part of the choirs to come back and join us for By Faith. I think we may have to start that tradition next year! 🥹 1,461 days seems long. But 4 years of high school goes by quicker than you know. Seniors, time to head out. Please continue to make music for all the time that God gives you on this side of heaven. Think of it as practice for that heavenly concert we’ll all get to sing together someday. 😉 Love God. Love others. And as I end most of our rehearsals…thank you for your work today, I love you all…now please get out. ❤️😊
