This is Ivor Perl’s ID card that he was given after he was liberated from Dachau aged aged 13. This is the story I have written about him: The 'Belsen boys' who moved to Ascot http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-44008751

February 22nd (Thursday) I will be heading to Auschwitz in Poland. Aushwitz is one of the most well known Nazi Labour/death camps because most of it has survived. I am heading there with the Holocaust Education trust to witness what is left and learn a more about the holocaust. The first two photos are of Auschwitz 1 and 2 and the last is an original Dutch Star of David that Jews were forced to sew onto their clothes. More photos and information to come when I return.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, where we remember the millions of people innocently murdered through the evil intentions of humankind and warped ideology. Remember those innocent souls, and vow never to repeat history’s darkest days.

Today, on #HolocaustMemorialDay 2018, we remember the 6 million Jews and others murdered by the Nazis, and victims of subsequent genocides. We pledge to #NeverForget #HMD2018

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out--because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out--because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me." - Martin Niemöller

Whilst we must remember The Holocaust, we cannot forget that our world today contains wild intolerances that we must overcome and promote unity and equality. We can only achieve this when we properly understand where past societies failed, recognise our own mistakes and move towards peace. #lessonsfromauschwitz #holocaustmemorialday

‪When you have nothing left - the only power you retain is your response. A wise, wise lesson from Viktor Frankl, Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor. How else could you have tried to survive such unimaginable horror? We remember today and always #HMD2018 #WeRemember ‬#holocaustremembranceday #remember #wisdom #neveragain #neverforget #flame #history #lessons

#Holocaust education remains one of the most powerful tools to fight bigotry - that's why I have announced new @mhclg @educationgovuk funding for @het_uk and @ujs_uk to fight anti-semitism on university campuses #sayno #antisemitism #students #communities

This week I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust Book of Commitment, in doing so pledging my commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day, which honours those who were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate people today.

Saturday 27th January will mark the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.

Holocaust Memorial Day is an opportunity for people from Worthing West and across the country to reflect on the tragic events of the Holocaust. As the Holocaust moves from living history, to just history, it is important that we take the time to remember its victims and pay tribute to survivors. I encourage my constituents to show their support for such an important day.
