if you’re looking for Tze Char in Ang Mo Kio, especially fish head steamboat and curry fish head, save this spot for your next family meal or gathering!

we tried:

🐟 Red Grouper Fish Head Steamboat

the red grouper was meaty, tender and naturally sweet, while the savoury steamboat broth was comforting and full of flavour.

but what really caught my attention 👀 — the steamboat also comes with salted egg fish skin for FREE :D

crispy, savoury and coated with that rich salted egg flavour, adding a really nice crunchy texture alongside the tender fish.

🍛 Curry Fish Head

the tender fish soaked up all that delicious curry gravy, making it perfect with a bowl of steamed rice.

🍍 Sweet & Sour Pork

crispy on the outside, tender inside and coated in a sweet, tangy sauce!

🌶️ Sambal Kang Kong

fresh and crunchy kang kong stir-fried in fragrant sambal, giving it a savoury, spicy kick that goes SO well with rice.

We found a hidden gem tucked away in an industrial estate!

Tucked away from the usual hustle and bustle, this place is such a great spot for a chill catch-up after a long week at work!

So what did we have? 👇🏻

🥩 Garlic Fried Pork Belly

OMG, this is SO SO GOOD! 🤤 Fragrant garlic and loads of it! The pork belly was juicy on the inside with those crispy edges — seriously, this is a MUST ORDER!

🍛 $39.90 Fish Head Curry Set, per pax only $13.30??? Value lei!

Good for 3 pax and comes with 3 bowls of rice, Sweet & Sour Pork for the terror and Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves!

The fish head curry was so flavourful and packed with that shiok curry goodness! Definitely for those who love a good, hearty fish head curry.

🍲 鱼头炉 / Fish Head Steamboat from $35

Order any version and you'll get a COMPLIMENTARY Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin!

And OMG… this fish skin is SO ADDICTIVE! Crunchy, savoury and coated with that fragrant salted egg flavour — I can just keep munching on it!

The fish head steamboat was another favourite. The soup was rich and flavourful without being overly salty, so we didn't feel super thirsty after the meal. The hot pot was also packed full of ingredients and the best part — the soup is refillable!

If you're looking for somewhere away from the usual crowded places for a relaxed gathering, family dinner or catch-up with friends, this hidden gem is definitely worth checking out!

After discovering this place, I know where to go when I'm craving a good bowl of 鱼头炉!

fragrant, creamy and packed with curry flavour, with the tender fish soaking up all that delicious gravy. definitely one for curry lovers!

🥚 Egg Omelette
simple but so satisfying — fluffy, savoury and comforting, with that classic Tze Char-style wok flavour.

🌶️ Sambal Kang Kong
crisp and fresh kang kong stir-fried with a savoury, slightly spicy sambal sauce. super fragrant and really addictive with rice 🤤

honestly, this is the kind of old-school Tze Char spot that’s perfect for a family meal or gathering with friends~ lots of comforting dishes to share around the table.
