So… what exactly is a Sour Mash Whiskey?

And where does Michter’s Sour Mash fit when it isn’t quite bourbon and it isn’t quite rye?

Matt Molter, Director of Operations Planning at Michter’s, breaks down what makes Michter’s US*1 Sour Mash unique and gives us a little insight into one of the more interesting bottles in their lineup.

Catch our full conversation with Matt from Hoochenanny

“Small Batch” is printed on whiskey labels everywhere, but what does it actually mean?

We asked Matt Molter, Director of Operations Planning at Michter’s, to break it down.

At Michter’s, “small batch” isn’t just marketing, their batching equipment is designed to hold no more than 20 full barrels, giving the team tighter control over every barrel that goes into the final whiskey.

Catch our full conversation with Matt tomorrow at 8AM on YouTube.

Still riding the high from Hoochenanny Festival 2026 🎶

It’s been so cool watching this festival continue to grow right here in our town. The move to Center Park feels like such a perfect next chapter, giving Hoochenanny room to become something even bigger while still feeling like a hometown festival.

And this year’s lineup really showed how far it’s come. Seeing bigger and bigger bands make their way to our little corner of New York is pretty damn special.

But for me, the highlight had to be Modest Mouse. They’ve been near the top of my concert bucket list for YEARS, so finally getting to hear those songs live, basically in my own backyard, was one of those surreal music moments I won’t forget.

Already excited to see where Hoochenanny goes from here. If this year was any indication, it’s only getting better. 🤘🎸

That’s a #Hoochenanny Wrap!
• • •
We were proud to team up with ADMAR Construction Equipment and Supplies to put Viridi’s #RPS150 #BatteryEnergyStorage Systems to work at the Hoochenanny Festival—a three-day celebration.
• • •
And these batteries had a LOT to power.
• • •
⚡ Two locations operating in generator-hybrid mode
⚡ The musicians’ tent
⚡ A massive 80' x 200' luxury Whiskey Tasting Tent with big screens and 40 distillers
⚡ All the food trucks tied into our systems
• • •
In other words: we kept the whiskey flowing, the bands rocking, the food cooking and the festival humming.
• • •
