The Sandy Spoons Fishing Co. (Est. 2016) was inaugurated on our first-ever boys’ camping trip. At just 6 and 9 years old, the boys had a remarkable talent for dropping their spoons directly unto the beach, which meant I spent half the time marching back to freshwater as the official dishwasher. 🥄

Every year since, we’ve planned another journey: camping, surfing, Airstreams, log cabins, kayaking, and, of course, some fishing. What started with dirty utensils has somehow become a proud tradition of big plans, small adventures, questionable decisions, and fish stories (they get slightly better every time we tell them). 🎣

We’re now on our 10th year. The Sandy Spoons Fishing Co. somehow remains in operation despite having no fishing license and a very inconsistent catch record. (But we now have merch!🧢) We still wake up too early, and spend an entire day of a little sunscreen and a lot of bait.

MARAGATI

My first island love.

Sometime around 2020, I was entrusted with a passion project that both excited and scared me. It felt bigger than me—but it also felt like it was calling me, so I took the leap.

What began as a simple renovation slowly became a boathouse with a story of its own. Now, it’s one of those quiet “iykyk” spots on the island—and that still feels surreal to say.

They say once in your lifetime, you’ll get the chance to work with a visionary—and when that moment comes, you just have to take it. I’m grateful I did, alongside some of the island’s best.

This place and the people I worked with here will always have a special space in my heart 🤍

Turning an empty Malinao Road into an unforgettable memory with new friends.

One moment that will remain particularly memorable for me is my experience on Malinao Road in Siargao. This road is famous for its wonderful sunsets, which attract surf skaters from all over the world to ride together.

However, when I visited Siargao, the weather was still quite bad due to the rainy season. Since I only had a few days left to visit Malinao Road, I went there anyway with my friend @julietamaturanac . LUCKILY.

The road was completely empty, with only locals and a few tourists there. This led to me meeting Karen’s wonderful family. Like her husband and two sons, she loves surfing. No wonder her cute little daughter is already a real pro on the surf skate ;)

You don’t just book Maragati. You find it.

It’s for the conversations that need more than four walls. The kind that start with a boat ride through quiet mangroves and end with a shared plate under the stars.

Kaos Table 006 knew. They brought a dialogue between two distant islands here—Siargao and the Faroes—because they needed a room that already spoke the language of place.

So what is that language?

It’s the patina on a century-old chair. The shape of a branch collected after the last storm. The way the light falls on a table we built in a day, just for this.

This place is built from found things and slow ideas. Nothing shipped in; everything grown, gathered, or gently rediscovered. It doesn’t look “designed.” It feels true.

And in a space this honest, everything becomes more real.

That evening, worlds converged—not through fusion, but through dialogue. A 10-course journey wove ingredients and stories from both seas into a single tale of place and preservation. From cevice to cured lamb leg, each dish was a testament to listening.

Eight nationalities across three teams. Five around one table of fifteen. One shared way of working.

When the space speaks quietly of heritage, the food can sing. The talk goes deeper. The night stays with you.

SAME SAME, BUT DIFFERENT: A TALE OF REMOTE ISLANDS
A phrase born in Southeast Asia to describe things that are similar in essence, though never identical. Commonly used in markets and daily conversations, “same same, but different” points to a shared core with a local interpretation. It captures the idea that two things can come from the same logic or need, yet be shaped by different contexts.
This Kaos Table dinner connects the Faroe Islands and Siargao, two remote places that may seem opposite yet share deep similarities. Shaped by the sea, isolation, and strong food cultures, both rely on fishing, foraging, preservation, and a close relationship with nature.
Through KAOS TABLE 006, we explore, together with @roksrestaurant and @cevsiargao, these parallels by translating ideas between landscapes-not fusion, but a dialogue between islands at opposite ends of the world.
The journey will take place at Maragati, a hidden boathouse tucked among the mangroves of Pilar, Siargao. Guests will be welcomed with a snack and drink, followed by a tasting menu served around a communal table. The full experience unfolds against sweeping views of Pilar’s lush waterways.
