53 years old and I finally kinda figured out how to rope climb!…Take THAT, middle school gym class. 😂…I still have plenty of work to do, but when I walked into my first CrossFit gym about 5 years ago and saw the ropes, I remember thinking, “Well…that’s something I’ll never be able to do.” Fast forward to last week, and I was totally shocked when I started to figure it out!
And can we talk about how much higher you feel when you’re actually up there?!#ProgressNotPerfection @hookdathleticco

Pain doesn’t always mean damage.

Sometimes pain is your body’s alarm system telling you something needs attention: load, recovery, stress, sleep, mobility, strength, or movement tolerance.

The goal isn’t to ignore pain.

The goal is to understand it, modify smart, and rebuild capacity over time.

Don’t quit movement.Find the right entry point.

DM me “PAIN” if you want help figuring out what your body is telling you.

Most people think squats are just about building stronger legs.

But research suggests lower-body strength is closely linked to mobility, independence, and healthy aging.

A squat isn’t just an exercise—it’s a snapshot of how well your body moves.

If squatting is difficult, don’t avoid it. Find the limitation and work on it.

Your future self will thank you. 💪

Like I said on my Murph post I have definitely gotten stronger doing CrossFit. @hookdathleticco Realized I hit a lot of PRs in the last week…the #107 on the clean is probably the biggest. I remember when I couldn’t do one with an empty bar….everyone said I would get it and would be adding the bigger plates..I didn’t believe it but they were right!!

Heavy squats aren’t the problem.
Avoiding load is.

Your body adapts to stress—
that’s how it gets stronger.

Most people stay in pain because they:
• Avoid challenging positions
• Never build strength through full range
• Don’t progressively load their system

Progressive overload doesn’t break you… it builds you.

If you’re active but dealing with pain, you don’t need to stop training, you need to train smarter.
