Als cultuurwetenschapper, lector, fotograaf en journalist is ze vooral geïnteresseerd in 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣, en in de vraag hoe je die het best vertelt. Soms met woorden, soms met beelden, liefst met allebei. Met projecten als ɢᴇʟᴜᴋᴋɪɢᴇ ʟɪᴇꜰᴅᴇ & ɴᴇᴡ ʏᴏʀᴋ brengt ze mensen voor haar camera. In 2025 verscheen bij @hopperandfuchs ‘𝙋𝙞𝙚𝙩 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙨. 𝙑𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙚 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙣’, een eigenzinnige biografie over de gerenommeerde porseleinkunstenaar. Tijdens 𝗱𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗯 vertelt Timmermans hoe woord en beeld elkaar kunnen versterken, hoe een fotoproject ontstaat en hoe je een kunstenaar als @pietstockmans vangt in een boek. THE FEMININE GAZE — EXHIBITION I'm delighted to be part of The Feminine Gaze, a group exhibition at @in_dependancegallery IN-DEPENDANCE by IBASHO in Antwerp, alongside three wonderful artists: Florence D’Elle @florencedelle Ingrid Dorner @ingriddornerphoto Birgit Graschopf @birgitgraschopf Lisen Stibeck @lisenstibeck Four artists, four distinct photographic worlds, exploring the feminine gaze through memory, transformation, imagination and personal experience. I will be presenting works from my series Liminal, Zimmer23 and Merveille. Every year I meet photographers with strong projects who go quiet the moment someone asks: “So, what is it about?” I get it, because many of us chose photography so our images could speak for us. Still, a project that only lives on your hard drive rarely finds the publishers, curators and funders it needs, and they all want to hear from you why your work matters. That’s why the pitch has been part of every De Donkere Kamer show for ten years. I’ve seen so many photographers walk on stage nervous and walk off with a clearer view of their work than months of thinking alone ever gave them. Explaining your project to people who have never seen it forces you to find its heart, and you’ll use that skill for the rest of your career. On October 1 at 7:30 PM, Museion welcomes artist Linda Jasmin Mayer for the presentation of "Zwischenwelten", a newly published artist book created in dialogue with writers and thinkers whose texts engage with her practice. Exploring transformation, permeability, and the connections between human and non-human forms of life, the publication reflects on worlds in transition and states of becoming.
