As some of you know, 1/3 of the UL line-up will be changing as our longtime friend and bandmate @tedjhall is passing on the baton (bass-tone?) to our good pal Evan. We want to take a moment to thank Ted for all the love and heart poured into this little band over the last 10 years (we can't believe it's been that long either!) So much has changed for all of us over the last decade and we're grateful to have been able to spend so many years making and playing music together. Thanks for everything Teddy, love you always and keep Almonte weird will ya?! 💘

1st and last photos are by our super talented pal @findingtherhxthms taken on Ted's last show with us 🥲

P.S. Also you'll all still be able to revel in Ted's melodic bass riffs on our new EP coming out some day! Hopefully soon!!

HOLY MACKEREL!

🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

New dish on the dinner menu! Blistered mackerel with the first of the local zucchini, olives, capers, shallots, a nice dollop of rouille (basically a saffron aioli), and some pan jus.

It’s so delicious, so simple! Don’t be afraid of Mackerel! Ours is so fresh, not fishy at all, and it’s so good for you!!

Thank gawd the heat is finally breaking!

TOMATO SEASON!

🫨🍅🍃🫨🍅🍃🫨🍅🍃🫨🍅🍃🫨🍅🫨🍅🍃

@terramorfarm @rutabagaranch came through this week with these juicy BOIS! @bzarvsfood is letting them shine in these 2 beautiful dishes.

One of them is simply sourdough fry-bread, aioli, and tomatoes. We slowly fry the bread in butter and oil to the point where it absorbs all the fats and the texture changes to this crispy crunch on the outside and a soft, almost custard like inside. I know it’s just fried bread… but I’m telling you, it’s special. Then we rub it with raw garlic, slather it in aioli, pile it high with thick slabs of juicy heirlooms, and finish it with a healthy amount of salt and pepper.

The other is a beautiful cherry tomato salad with fresh ricotta, and white anchovies. The vinaigrette is made with brown butter and a house-made marmite which @bzarvsfood painstakingly fermented and reduced. Very simple things with a lot of time, effort, SWEAT, and love put into them.

🐷🌿🍖🍃🐷🌿🍖🍃🐷🌿🍖🍃🐷🌿🍖🍃

New dish on the dinner menu: seared “griller” pork chops with dandelion greens tossed in a burnt chickpea dressing with parm, lemon, and pepperoncini.

Très simple, très bon.
