That time of the Year: End of year lists..
Tone of Voice Orchestra had a lot of radio DJs support our album, and feature it in their shows in different territories.
Quite a few have re-introduced the album now that many has made End of Year shows and lists.
Two of our most heartwarming supporters are Gordon Nash from Folk Music Notebook, who has played almost all our songs at some point on his show Gord’s Gold.

Very encouraging too was the fabulous review in Australian “Rhythms” written by Toni Hillier, who have also played several of our songs on his Toni Hillier’s Folk World show, where he also included us in his best of the year show, as well as giving us a seat at the table on his Top 10 albums of the Year published in the Jan-Febr issue of Australian “Rhythms”

We are very grateful to these two gentlemen and leave readers with links to their “Best of 2025” show

We are psyched to bring Irena Klepfisz to @elsolbrillantegarden this Sunday! Our @isleofklezbos garden show MC/guests in past years have included illustrious artists such as Jennifer Miller of @circusamok (twice! once eating fire, next juggling ice), @elkay100 who shared ancient headshots & prop shtiklekh from her early career auditions, and @tinekindermann who played her poignant saw. And of course, @jillsobule in 2015: May she rest in peace and power. We will perform three songs to honor her memory here — two soulful yet little-known treasures that we played for Jill’s own “Music from Yentl” project originally for Leah Napolin’s 2012 play version, plus one surprise tune, a comic Yinglish request which the late great @h_willner_ once chose for Jill himself. Now coming full circle, we learn that Irena Klepfisz (“along with every Jewish dyke in Brooklyn”) attended the pre-Broadway performance of Leah Napolin’s stage adaptation of “Yentl” back in 1974 at @bam_brooklyn . So nu: Come one, come all to hear the band & whatever Irke decides to share with us too!

Coming soon: @isleofklezbos FREE outdoor “Full Blossom” sextet concert at @elsolbrillantegarden in the East Village! Sunday, July 13 from 4pm-6pm. El Sol Brillante Community Garden, 522 East 12th St (between Ave’s A & B) NYC, 4PM-6PM. Alternate rain location: Sixth Street Synagogue, 325 East 6th St (between First & Second Ave’s)

Our special guest, poet & lifelong activist Irena Klepfisz, will read from her award-winning work. We are honored to bring this dedicated lesbian feminist Yiddishist Bundist (born 1941 in the Warsaw Ghetto) also as our concert MC. @irenaklepfisz latest publications include “Her Birth & Later Years: New & Collected Poems, 1971-2021”.

This show will also be dedicated to the memory of beloved singer-songwriter & human rights activist @jillsobule whose sudden tragic death on May 1st is mourned by so many. Isle of Klezbos played as backing band for Jill’s acclaimed original “Music from Yentl” project 2014-2015 at Joe’s Pub & Lincoln Center Atrium. Jill herself then joined Isle of Klezbos at El Sol Brillante Garden as special guest performer for our September 1, 2015 “Roots & Fruits” concert. For July 13, 2025 we will perform two of her soulful, brilliant “Yentl” tunes with band arrangements by Jill’s longtime artistic collaborator @weisbergsteve — plus a surprise tune from even less-known hilarious Klezbos-appropriate repertoire of Jill’s.

ISLE of KLEZBOS sextet bandmates:
Debra Kreisberg - clarinet & alto saxophone
Pam Fleming - trumpet & flugelhorn
Melissa Fogarty - vocals
Shoko Nagai - accordion & piano
Saskia Lane - double bass
Eve Sicular - drums | bandleader

My 2nd single is coming up Friday next week. Before that, I want to post a collective thanks to all the non-quitters out there working the airwaves on all sorts of radio outlets whether it is National Radio, community FM radio or internet based radios.
All these shows are hosted by real passionate individuals, so dedicated that they have taken the time to listen to an independent artist from - in some cases- the other site of the globe.
I spent my sunday listing to some of the shows that have featured my first single “I’m Not a Quitter” and made this audio collage of cool introductions of my song in different languages and accents.

I spend mysunday listening to several of these show and discovered many artist I didn’t know, which I have now added to my loop.

Vain as I am, I admit it is a thrill to see my song in playlists rubbing up against other artists I admire greatly. Most importantly, as I listened back on the shows, I felt my song certainly didn’t fall through, which made me quite happy..

Some programs for instance the show on Finish national Radio Yle, cannot be streamed from outside of Finland(so I missed the sound of a Finish speaking host.), and others I have not been able to find links to, and certainly there are shows I just don’t know about if they don’t have public “googlable” playlists.

In my Spotify behind-the-streams, I can see that the most of my listeners come from USA, Canada, Nederlands and Australia (before Denmark come in as a nr. 5) this indicates there must be more overseas airplay, I don’t know about. And Nederlands for instance? I have no idea, how I caught some attention in that territory.
Again it’s all babysteps, but it is moving nicely in the right direction for the release of the full album on January 31st.

Link to presave next single in bio.
