Tomorrow morning at 9am PT, she finally arrives: STORIES WOVEN IN BLOOM✨🩷🫶🩵✨🎀💫

NDN Girls Book Club x Eighth Generation (@eighthgeneration) presents a very special new collaboration with artist Jenabah Yazzie. This blanket supports both Yazzie as an artist and NDN Girls Book Club’s efforts distributing free books to Indigenous youth and families. To date, Book Club has shared more than 35,000 brand new books by Indigenous authors for free through annual Book Fests, pop-up events, collaborations, and care packages.

Founder Kinsale says about the significance of the blanket and its particular symbolism for youth:

“From a book club perspective, we want our children to know that if they choose to go to college or pursue higher education, they have a support system. They have people with open arms waiting for them to return to their communities if they have to leave home to pursue their education. That’s a really difficult decision for our youth, especially considering what has followed forced assimilation. The struggles our students face, including their mental health, aren’t highlighted enough. But those experiences are represented in stories and in accounts from students who have gone through university and graduated. We want our youth to know that we’re here to support them and make them feel loved. With censorship, book banning, and violence against queer and trans Native youth, many young people feel scared. We want to represent people who look like them and people doing work they might see themselves doing in the future. It’s really about expanding the horizon of possibilities for our students.” (@nativenewsonline).

The blanket will be available Monday, Oct. 5th at 9am PT: https://eighthgeneration.com/collections/signature-series-wool-blankets

Signature Series Wool Blankets put Eighth Generation on the map as the first Native-owned business to produce Native-designed wool blankets on a commercial scale.

These luxe wool blankets are crafted from 100% wool pile, a sewn leather or ribbon artist patch, and a microsuede edge band.

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no!! It’s Book Club! 📚💕

✨📚 Thank you Utah Navajo Health System x Navajo Mtn. Community Health Center for having NDN Girls Book Club at the annual Teddy Bear Clinic 💕💕 it was amazing seeing all the babies and students coming through and getting to fill their backpacks with books and back to school goodies. They then got to do a health checkup with brand new teddy bears— and the bears got checkups too! Families also got to tour the health clinic, meet the clinicians and the whole team, and even tour the helicopter that flew in from Page, AZ. ❣️

Ahxéhee’ to all of the partners who created such a wonderful event. We were able to share all of our Diné language and Indigenous-authored books 📚 ❣️

More books will be stocked at the clinic’s little library VERY SOON, so please stay tuned! Books will be for all ages 💕💕💕 sign up for our newsletter at www.ndngirlsbookclub.org to keep in touch!
