“Porcelain Dolls”, our interpretive dance piece inspired by Rosalía’s “Porcelana.” A meditation on how feminine-presenting bodies get treated as objects to admire instead of people to see, and what happens when we reject that and reclaim the room. Was performed live on the 6th of August. Full video coming soon 🫣

From Youth Day this year. 😊🖼️ I honoured an invite by @saiige___ for the first After Hours event by @hour.turn: ROOTS. This was a dynamic exhibition exploring the theme of reimagining and deconstructing the past to look clearly into the future. ✨

It was also a curated social networking event for young creatives above 18. It happened at the newly opened The Artisan In Melville. Such a well attended event with a good vibe. I met some of the artists and some of my faves. Congratulations to the team and to more successful events. I love to see a vision come to life brilliantly. ❤️👏🏾🙌🏾

DISCLAIMER! Ignore the fact that I look like a potato! Its kinda sorta my final form.

BUT ANYWAYS

Guys! The After Hours: Made Among Us exhibition, part 1 of the trilogy (The past) has happened! And it is all so surreal for me. I got to meet, work with and showcase alongside such amazing and talented individuals.

In my reflection, I thought it would be a good idea to share a video that I made to showcase the process of my journey from start to finish when it came to the creation of my mirrors/mosiac, the photoshoot and the concept that I have finally titled:

• The Past: Fragments, Unnamed •

The title itself is a tribute to what happens to the pieces and parts of ourselves that go or remain unnamed when unidentified and never or are rarely acknowledged due to internal or external forces. My piece deals heavily with identity, individuality, the self and what happens when there is a lack within one's being.

If you missed the exhibition don't worry there is more to come! Seeing a it is a trilogy *winkwink

I will be releasing a series of shorts explaining the concept and a little bit about the work itself just as a thank you to the creatives at @acreatorslivingarchive and @hour.turn who made all of this possible as well as all the people who came to support young artists/creatives!

A big shout out to everyone that helped me with this Project:
• Marlene - who advised me on what methods I could use to make the grout and the Mosaic last long
• Shanita & Toni - the amazing models Who modelled for the photos
• Sye - who helped behind the scenes
• Njeri - who shared some mirror pieces with me
• The people at build plumb & tile as well as Jack's paint and hardware store

Yeah that should be everyone! Thank you❤️

See you soon!

Are you looking forward to the next exhibition?
