Congratulations to two of my amazing friends on your marriage! 🤍 I feel so honored to have witnessed the love you two share and to have been invited all the way to Egypt to celebrate such a special moment with you. I met you both at different times in my life, so getting to watch your love find its way to each other and blossom into what it is today has been so beautiful. If there’s anything I’ve learned from knowing you both, it’s how openly you love. You’ve kept your hearts open, and that love isn’t only reflected in the way you love each other, but in the friendships you’ve built and the people you choose to surround yourselves with. Wishing you a marriage filled with abundance, laughter, growth, adventure, and a love that continues to choose each other through every season; through the beautiful moments and the difficult ones. Thank you for letting me be part of this chapter. I moved across the country for a job I just got laid off from. 🫠 Maybe this is also the moment I finally go all in on the dream I’ve been building quietly all along Losing my position as a Tech Designer at ASRV was not part of the plan. I’m grateful for everything the experience taught me. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed, nervous/ questioning what comes next. Then I remembered who I am was never attached to one job title or one company. I’m still a fashion designer. I’m still a technical designer. I’m still a patternmaker, garment builder, storyteller, and creative problem solver. Most importantly, I’m still the founder of House of Ladera. For more than a year, I’ve been concepting SOLARA: The Spectrum of Escape, a swim and resortwear collection inspired by the different emotional phases of returning to yourself: Awakening, Grounding, Play, Serenity, Confidence, and Balance. SOLARA is about color, freedom, movement, femininity, and the version of you that emerges when you finally give yourself permission to live fully. Every silhouette, texture, and detail has been developing in my mind long before the collection ever became something tangible. For the past few years, I’ve poured so much of my talent into helping build other brands while continuing to nurture House of Ladera whenever I could find the time. Maybe this unexpected pause is not here to stop me. Maybe it is creating the space I kept saying I needed.Space to finish the collection, create without shrinking the vision, trust the skills I’ve spent years developing. Space to bet on myself. I’m still open to fashion design, technical design, product development, creative direction, freelance, and fulltime opportunities. At the same time, I’m taking this chapter as an invitation to pour more intentionally into my own work and the personal brand I have been building from the ground up. A job ended; the vision did not. This may not be the chapter I planned, but it could be the chapter where everything I’ve been concepting finally comes to life. No need to rush. Outfit check in Comuna 13, Medellín 🇨🇴❤️ This is what I did for the 4th of July: traded fireworks for street art, history, hillside views, and a ride on Medellín’s iconic Metro Cable. Comuna 13 is one of the most powerful places I’ve visited so far in Colombia. What was once known for violence has transformed into a neighborhood full of murals, music, dance, community, and resilience. Every wall tells a story, and every corner was a literal party. We also took the Metro Cable, which isn’t just a tourist attraction. It’s part of Medellín’s public transportation system and was created to connect people living in the hillside neighborhoods to the rest of the city. The views are unreal, but the meaning behind it is even deeper. A massive thank you to our amazing tour guide @santiagocastanedarios for leading such an eye-opening tour. Nothing says friendship like trusting me with your mother’s wedding dress and a pair of scissors. 💍👯‍♀️✂️ For context, @allison___egan was my 1st friend when I moved to San Diego. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel included right away, takes you under her wing, invites you to things, introduces you to everyone, and somehow makes a brand new city feel a little less scary and a lot more like home, so being able to create something for her wedding weekend felt extra special. This was probably one of the most nerve wracking pieces I’ve ever worked on because of how much meaning this dress held. I had to carefully take it apart, preserve the lace, figure out what could be reused, and turn it into something new without losing the heart of the original dress. The process was honestly chaotic… fabric everywhere, me talking to myself, second guessing every cut, and acting like I wasn’t emotionally attached to a dress that wasn’t even mine. And of course, because life loves a plot twist, I was making this while recovering from a broken foot, getting sick, working full time, trying to have a social life, and pretending I was totally calm every time I looked at the dress like, “Okay girl… do not mess this up.” .. But that’s the beauty of creating. Sometimes the process is messy, emotional, and held together by caffeine, delusion, and one really good vision. I wanted to honor the original dress while turning it into something Allison could wear in her own love story. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. 💙 This was more than a dress project. Went to a @grammys event with my friends and truly had the best time. Everyone looked flawless and absolutely understood the assignment. Ran into so many artists, and while it was fun talking about what we all do, I found myself way more excited talking about my grandma. There’s something powerful about being proud of where you come from. Lineage matters. Our roots guide us to where we’re meant to go, whether we realize it or not. Seeing @badbunnypr win Album of the Year had me in my feelings. So proud to be Puerto Rican and to see someone represent our people with so much heart. His reminder that human connection and love are what matter most really stayed with me. Also… Pisces are having a moment ♓️ it’s our time to shine, create, and be seen. The dress I’m wearing was made by me (duh) and originally worn for my grandmother’s 100th birthday last year.
