I had a fantastic time at @babesinbusiness_stl networking party yesterday! I finally got to wear my handmade White Swan Lake look i made and it was perfect for the theme “nowhere to wear this”. I loved meeting other women in business and making connections with local StL women. Thank you to @dreamimandi for letting me know about the event and being my date for the evening. To all the fantastic women I met, you all inspire me to keep creating my own work and being my own business woman!

There are some pieces you never forget.
This was ours.

The Venus Tunic Top was the very first style we made as collaboration between a teenage girl dreaming of softness, elegance, and beauty, and a designer mother who helped bring it to life.

Inspired by the goddesses carved into marble, the Venus top was designed to drape—not cling. To suggest, not shout. It moves like air, slips over the body like a secret, and brings grace to every gesture.

As a teen (and frankly still as an adult) I struggled finding anything comfortable yet still elegant and beautiful. As my body was changing, I found it impossible to find something that molded to me and didn’t leave me feeling boxy or awkward.

And so we started with this tunic dream idea I had and worked it into a real design. Now called the Venus top. It quickly became my go to top for whenever I didn’t know what to wear. I’d just throw it on with some leggings or tights & shorts or even thigh high stockings with an oversized cardigan and be on my merry way. Honestly, If I were a cartoon character that would be my default outfit for the majority of my later high school era.

I graduated and moved away to Boston to study and Life moved on —but I always felt a pull back to working on this project with my mom. It was like it was both haunting us in our dreams, a thread of fate pull and snagging at the seams until life brought us back to this project during the pandemic. We were both struggling to find meaning in all of this together. So we stopped deferring this dream and worked to make it a tangible reality as House of Lebied.

We wanted to create clothes that give us all this feeling: that your curves are to be loved and expressed not hidden away, pinched and squeezed for we should never feel ashamed of how soft and in flux our beautiful feminine bodies are.

We want every woman who slips on our pieces to feel like you were always a work of art.

Because you are a goddess who never needed permission to glow.

“The power to create your own life doesn’t come in forcing, not in worrying but in surrendering to the infinite intelligence of the universe. The greatest transformations occur when you let go. When you release resistant you create space for the infinite intelligence to create .. to do its work… so let go of doubt fear and control and step into the space of infinite possibilities…

Step into a new reality.”
