There’s close formation… and then there’s the Blue Angels. Opposing passes happen fast, but for a fraction of a second the jets line up in a way that almost doesn’t look real. This is one of those moments where timing matters just as much behind the camera as it does in the cockpit. Blink and you’ll miss it. #USNBlueAngels #Navy #NavalAviation #AviationPhotography #MilitaryAviation

One of the details you may have noticed on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet are these small vents located on top of the fuselage, just behind the wings. They’re part of the aircraft’s Environmental Control System (ECS), which provides conditioned air for the cockpit and cooling for the Super Hornet’s avionics and electronic equipment. Earlier Super Hornets used the distinctive row of small exhaust openings shown here. If you’ve ever seen photos of older jets with dark streaks running down the upper fuselage, these ECS exhausts were often responsible. Heat and exhaust deposits could discolor the paint around and behind the vents. It’s one of those small details that’s easy to overlook—but once you know what they are, you’ll notice them on almost every Super Hornet you see. #F18 #Hornet

The Cold War ushered in one of the most transformative eras in the history of fighter aircraft development. Rivalry between the United States, Soviet Union, and their allies fueled rapid advancements in jet propulsion, radar, guided missiles, and electronic systems. Aircraft such as the F-4 Phantom II became icons of an era when supersonic speeds and increasingly advanced weaponry were becoming standard features of modern fighters. Seeing these aircraft soar over centuries-old landmarks like Germany’s Hohenzollern Castle creates a remarkable contrast between two vastly different eras of human development. Fortifications designed for a world of stone walls and watchtowers now stand beneath aircraft capable of traveling across enormous distances at supersonic speeds, highlighting just how dramatically military technology evolved in the span of only a few generations.

What you just saw, is an A320 experiencing an engine compressor stall during the takeoff roll. -> Engine compressor stall phenomenon: This kind of malfunction happens in case of a local interruption of the airflow in the compressor stage, it could leat to two main consequences; in the first case there will be a temporary power drop, in the second scenery the compressor malfunction will persist and an intervention on the fuel flow it's going to be necessary in order to make the engine operative again. -> What is a compressor? The compressor stage of a turbo jet engine (also present in the turbofan engines employed on the airliners) stands right after the intake section of the engine. The function of this organ is to compress the air ( so to increase its density) and keep the air-fuel ratio constant. Once the air gets compressed is going to be mixed up with fuel and then throught the combustion chamber.
