Everything started from the music we were inspired by.

SADE’s Cherish The Day lyrics, “iF YOU WERE MINE” sampled by NiPSEY was the foundation.

MUSIC/FASHION are synonymous so we wanted to share the experience sonically of how we felt making this capsule.

The curation of the
“HOME OF THE SLAVES/OUT THE MUD TEE”
was a conversation between our team that started from wanting to capture the visuals in the most artistic way possible.

Our team discovering the gravity of using actual mud was the personification of the term “GETTING IT OUT THE MUD”. Giving you results of success, accomplishments, and being able to take care your self and your people, then seeing all the shit you had to go through to get where you are. With no hand outs, just figuring it out everyday until you succeed. Until you on top. THATS WHAT GETTING IT OUT THE MUD MEANS. THATS WHAT YOU DID..

Our preparation was more than just creating to make a regular graphic t-shirt. We told ourselves. “HOW CAN WE MAKE SOME OF THE FLYEST TEES THIS YEAR. HOW CAN WE PUT OURSELVES IN THE CONVERSATION”?

So all of that started the journey of how can we tell each tshirts story. In specific, how can we tell the story of the
“HOME OF THE SLAVES/OUT THE MUD TEE”.

Figuring out the components we wanted, mud, chains, and a fielded area got us started. The fact that
SOUTH CAROLINA/MISSISSIPPI
Is where most SLAVES & OUR ANCESTORS was located, and the Carlton ALLEN founders being from SOUTH CAROLINA and having family from MISSISSIPPI was to crazy of a correlation to how we started using the reference as “HOME OF THE SLAVES”.
Then we thought about how that red dirt used to f##k up our airforces back in CAROLINA.

What brought everything together is the idea of photography being the backdrop to everything we cooked up. It became not only a tshirt that we were working on, it became an ART PIECE it self 🖼️

THE WAY WE FEEL ABOUT THE VISUALS MADE US RECOGNIZE THAT THEY NEED THEIR OWN THING TOO. IN A FEW MONTHS WE WILL BE SELLING PRINTS OF THESE PICTURES THAT WERE TAKEN, ALONG WITH OTHERS YOU HAVEN’T SEEN…. 👀

Baby Gibson’s Butterfly Garden was everything we dreamed of and more. Thank you to everyone who came from near and far, showered us with love, prayers, wisdom, and support.🥹✨

We looked around the room and couldn’t help but feel grateful for the incredible tribe that’s ready to support our little girl. The amount of love poured into this day was unreal, and if this shower was any indication, Baby Gibson is about to be SPOILED. 😂🦋

Huge shoutout to the MVP of the day the planner @amee_events who made the experience seamless. Truly the GOAT! 👏🏾
