When I’m not making art, I have the privilege of working at The Bloc, an after school boxing program serving kids on Chicago’s West Side. The ethos of the program is to provide the fighters with mentorship and academic support, while building and sharpening social skills, confidence, and drive to help them achieve the goals they have for themselves, whether that’s going to the college of their dreams or being a championship fighter. Currently these efforts have led to a 100% high school graduation and college acceptance rate.

My worlds collided when I was commissioned to create ADESHOLA MAKINDE hoodies as gifts to The Bloc staff for the holidays. Highlighting Muhammad Ali was a must because I believe The Bloc is an indirect continuation of the things that he so selflessly fought for. Throughout the artwork I was inspired to include a few slogans that represent the language of The Bloc, but I really wanted to create something that represented what the organization means to me. 🖤❤️
