“The Color Theory Lie Hairdressers Still Believe”
We’ve got hairdressers formulating oxidative color like they’re mixing finger paint… and then wondering why the formula missed.
Hair Color Is Not Paint!
Brown is not “equal parts blue, red, and yellow”
Color doesn’t fade like a rainbow leaving the room
Tone is not enough
Background matters more than most stylists realize
Hair color is chemistry, not grade 3 art theory

Not everything that looks good…is built to perform under pressure.
I’m seeing a technique being taught right now:
“Use 40 volume with red to create more vibrancy.”
And on the surface… it sounds logical.
More lift = less melanin = brighter result.
But here’s what gets left out…That same peroxide creating lift…is also degrading the dye you’re trying to build.
Inside the hair, nothing works separately.
It’s one environment. One system.
So when you increase the intensity…you don’t just lift more…You risk building less.
Attraction gets your attention…but only structure delivers the result.
Chemistry doesn’t respond to confidence…It responds to conditions.

We celebrate artistry loudly.
We celebrate celebrity quickly.
But we often overlook consistency, service, and quiet leadership.
So if you’ve ever wondered:
“Why them and not me?”

“Did I not do enough?”

“Was my contribution invisible?”
I want you to hear this clearly, right from the start:
Your worth in this profession is not validated by a plaque, a stage, or a committee.
Your invited to join me in our upcoming podcast on “Guru In Your Ear” where we have some conversations that might restore perspective on this subject.
