POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Welp, it's been a bit over a month since my top surgery fundraiser, so it's about time I make a post about it.

It's pretty overwhelming to have so many people show up and support me in this way, so I've been having trouble wrapping my head around the whole thing.

You raised $3.9k that night - and overall my fundraiser has hit the $10k mark. Which is wild... what do you mean $10k worth of people like me and support me? That can't be real. Honestly. What!?

I feel really lucky to be supported in this way. It doesn't feel real honestly. I don't know if it ever will.

Thank you @softbutchmedia and @sexybouquet for running the event and to @mammachens for hosting - you're freaking fantastic and I love you all so much.

Thank you @luckyfrawleyphoto for taking these wonderful photos of the night!

Thank you @toottoottootts for hosting and performing, and to all the other fantastic performers @pruebrown @earnestpegg_dragking @mortiecoil @our.carlson @han_arbuthnott @whoisflorianwild @eddie.pattison @hrtthrob.official for being absolute legends - I hope you all felt the love that night, you deserved every bit!

A big thanks to the helpers on the door, selling raffle tickets, giving out goodie bags + more @ro_brighter @maddelpop @natzphatz @pinkyswearit @emmafinn__ - you're all brilliant!

Thanks to everyone who donated something to the raffle or auction. SO many of you, some already mentioned above so I can't double tag but just know you're also thanked here! @harleyandhanden69 @slaylemreigny @caratune @jim.jam666 @kanye_au @cherrycharlestonburlesque @velvetslipperz @unassigned_gallery @unassigned_lifedrawing @daethey @a_kindsugi_future @wavewreckerelectronics @desireecremona - you're all wonderful!

THANK YOU to everyone who came and made the night so special. Couldn't have done this without you all, truly!

Thank you to everyone who has donated, whether you could make it to the event or not - your support means so much to me.

And lastly, thank you to me and to my tits - it's gonna be weird saying bye to them next year - they sure have worked hard at times and it's kinda nice to know that at least some part of me will be retiring before 40! (iykyk)

Love ya!
- JJ

‘Grouse Comedy: Unplugged’ featured the talents of cabaret stars Samuel Roberts and Gemma Caruana as well as the comedy boyband HRTthrob. The variety night with this line up only occurred twice so Hugging Comedians were eager to get along.

Opening the evening, Samuel Roberts blended theatrical storytelling with a sense of added drama as he regaled the audience through song and whimsy with tales of yesteryear. Samuel excelled in his personable approach with some familiar faces in the crowd adding laughs and additional authenticity.

Gemma Caruana followed with her trademark powerhouse performance craft and flare. She blended rapping skills fitting of a ‘Hamilton’ stage and opera’esque vocal range, all with finely tuned comedic timing to deliver consistent and well-paced laughs.

HRTthrob, which includes members Florian Wild, Eddie Pattison and Han Arbuthnott, got the crowd dancing and singing along in their seats to close out the show with a celebratory bang. With carefully curated covers and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, HRTthrob brought classic boyband charm to bring laughs and impressed with their melodic homage.

While at the cost of a traditional festival show ticket, each performer brought their ‘A game’ to perform well-rehearsed and well-planned material. ‘Grouse Comedy: Unplugged’ delivered a night of unfiltered levity that left the crowd feeling lighter than when they arrived. Check out each performer’s social media for more details about upcoming shows, with plenty of Midsumma Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival gigs on the horizon.
