Hubbi.cafe | A friend’s living room café

As the sun dips low across the tables and the espresso machine settles into its rhythm, it’s a fitting introduction. The name itself, @hubbi.cafe carries that intimacy. Derived from the Arabic word “Hubb” meaning love, it’s a quiet nod to owner Aboudi’s roots and the café’s core values.

Hannah and Aboudi created a cosy haven near nationalestraat. Their design choices are simple yet thoughtful mismatched ceramics, local art adorning the walls and cups that seem handpicked for friends rather than a menu. The food and coffee reflect the same instinct fresh, unfussy and generous. It’s the kind of breakfast that doesn’t perform well for a camera but tastes like Aboudi cares.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Ik voel veel dankbaarheid, naast veel zwaarte en zie veel potentieel voor zowel goed als kwaad.

Het is mijn eerste keer een hele zomer in België sinds ik mij kan herinneren.

En dat doet wat met een mens. Normaal ga ik op reis voor te herbronnen en op te laden. Voor inspiratie en ontspanning.

Niet deze keer. Nu is het energie steken in de mensen rondom mij. Energie leren bewaken. Niet capteren of koloniseren vanuit andere plekken.

Hier is het werk. België en in het verlengde Europa, staat al enige tijd op een cruciaal kruispunt.

Ik wil bouwen aan een toekomst. Ik wil investeren. Ik wil terug geloven en verbeelden.

Als jij dit ook wil maar geen organisatiekracht voelt of niet weet hoe en waar te beginnen, reik uit!

Onze kracht zit in elkaar. In kwetsbaarheid tonen. In ontvangen. In communicatie.

Zonder begrip, rest er enkel RIP.

We building the School.
We communicating the Truth.
We weaving together.

Er is plaats voor zij die durven vragen.

I’m not Tony… I’m Aboudi.

My story with cooking started when I was a kid, cooking for my younger siblings whenever my mother was away. What started as a necessity slowly became something I loved.

A few years ago, I came to Belgium. I studied cooking to learn the basics, then started working in restaurants because life demanded it.

I never planned to become a chef. I’ve always loved mechanics, motorcycles, and bicycles.

But life took me in a different direction… and today, I own my own restaurant.

I’m not a professional chef. I’m simply a guy who loves to cook.

This isn’t Tony’s story.

This is mine.

I’m Aboudi. ✨

We had the avocado toast and the Labneh eggs with creamy yoghurt, packed with fragrant spices and with extra chicken on th side . And trust me… order the extra chicken. It was unbelievably juicy and honestly worth coming back for on its own. 😮‍💨🍗

Beyond the food, Hubbi has such a warm atmosphere. Founded by Hannah & Abudi, it’s inspired by the Arabic word Hubb (meaning “love”), reflecting their passion for food, coffee, wine, art and bringing people together. You can really feel that the moment you walk in. ❤️
