“I was the kid on the school run who spent the whole time looking out the window identifying every car - and I mean every car. It’s lucky really that my mum is into cars too, and somewhere along the line the Ford Explorer she had when I was younger ended up wrapped in bright orange @Gumball3000 stickers.”

Huckleberry Mountain (@huck93) is a photographer and videographer based out of the Cotswolds – but one look at his Instagram and you’d be forgiven for thinking he lives in decidedly more exotic surroundings.

His big break into the car world came when he was asked to join in filming the London to Tokyo Gumball 3000 Rally; “I cancelled all of my plans to make that happen, this was ironically my first job in the car industry, the rally I obsessed over as a kid!”

A few years later he found his own dream machine, a 1978 911 SC sitting on an eBay listing. “When I first went to see the car I was trying to play it cool, as you do,” he explains, “but as soon as I took it out for a test drive that all went out the window. The sound of the flat 6, shifting through the gears of that characteristic 915 gearbox and feeling every dip, crack, stone on the road…I wanted this car in my life.”

Initially interested in a Cayman GT4, Huck explains he became enthralled with the Californian car scene, specifically aircooled Porsche meets; “there was a sense of community and expression I hadn’t really encountered before in the industry, no sense of right or wrong, just a group of likeminded people of all ages getting together and appreciating each-others cars.”

On making the 911 SC his own, Huck explains; “the way the car drives was always the priority. hence starting on the engine with PMO carbs, 964 cams, lightweight clutch and a custom exhaust system.” Along with replacing the standard shifter with a wooden gear knob made out of skateboards (a nod to his videographic origins), the most striking alteration is the RSR wing. “I knew I wanted the back end to have more presence, and the wing was the best way I’d found to add some. Pretty soon my least favourite angle of the car became my favourite!”

First leg of the St Mary’s trophy done in the little red Cortina! took the lead at the start but got punted off at turn 1, all good though as the fight back was fun to P6 💪🏽.

Been lagging on a Car Week post, but finally sat down to pick a few of my favorite photos, cars and moments. Nice to run into Adam and Tommy and get them appropriate headwear.

CTR Anniversary by @rufsince1939 . Even if it’s only for 20 minutes, any seat time in a RUF is such a special experience.

Jenson Button’s smoothness behind the wheel is especially satisfying to watch on a circuit like Laguna Seca. The California track is only 2.238 miles long, but packs in 11 turns, major elevation changes and the famous Corkscrew, which drops sharply through Turns 8 and 8A. Button’s background hardly needs introduction: the British driver won the 2009 Formula 1 World Championship with Brawn GP and accumulated 15 Grand Prix victories during his F1 career.

The Viper is equally at home here. Competition versions of Dodge’s V10-powered sports car became successful GT racers, while the road-going Viper ACR repeatedly demonstrated its pace at Laguna Seca—including a then-production-car lap record of 1:33.91 in 2009. Button himself has remained deeply involved in racing long after his full-time F1 career, competing in everything from endurance racing to historic machinery. The combination of Laguna Seca’s elevation, a Viper’s naturally aspirated soundtrack and the inputs of a world champion makes an onboard like this about as good as raw motorsport gets.

The new beast in the stable! Viper C25 originally owned by @paulbelmondo. This car finished 2nd in the FIA GT champs back in 2000 the year I started racing in F1 🫪.

Added a podium to its history at Laguna Seca this weekend 😉.

Thanks to @iconicracingteam @moulin.florent for running the car and @clubwheelhouse for their hospitality.

Jenson Button’s car collection has had every car. The British former F1 World Champion has collected some of the finest automobiles on the planet, with a genuine appreciation for cars that are actually fun to drive. From British classics, to Italian icons and modern hypercars, Button’s garage has done it all.

Although many of his cars have since been sold, he’s always been big on Porsches and Ferraris. His Porsche collection has included a 964 Turbo 3.6, 911 Carrera RS 2.7, Carrera GT, 991.2 GT2 RS and a stunning Amethyst 964 on Rotiform VCE wheels. Ferrari-wise, there was an Enzo, 360 Modena, 512 BB, 550 Maranello, 275 GTS, F355 GTS and even a rumored F40 among others.

Then come the super rare masterpieces: a Bugatti Veyron 16.4, McLaren P1 and 675LT Spider. But some of his most special cars are the ones he still owns and races regularly — a 1952 Jaguar C-Type and 1962 Jaguar E-Type. Add to that a Radford Type 62-2, Lotus Evija wearing a livery inspired by his 2009 Brawn GP F1 championship-winning car, Ford GT, Defender 90, Ford Bronco, VW Camper Vans, Mustang Boss 302, Honda NSX and plenty more. The list is basically endless…

Right, stay with me here as there’s a lot going on in this post. Yesterday I spent the entire day playing with Porsches to celebrate 75 years of @porsche_gb

Being a Porsche owner (big brag!) they’ve invited me along to a little breakfast get together ahead of a drive to the big Sunstede event at Silverstone. Here’s what I saw… and yes, I’ve saved the best until last.

Yup, that’s a 997 GT3 RS barn find, and it wasn’t just the one car…

There was bloody four of them!

Okay, yes this was of course a studio set setup to look as if these cars have been left alone here for years but experience tells me that dust is most likely real. If you zoom in you’ll see a mix of spider webs, flat tyres and battle scars all around each of the car.

These are most likely Silverstone experience cars that have been put aside for maintenance. Rather than hiding them, Porsche turned them into a display in the corner of the event. Good use of static stock! #gt3rs

This car is very special as it is one of the three 356s that were displayed at the Earls Court Motorshow in 1951 when Porsche first came to the UK and joined the market.

Yes, this car is from 1951! That makes it not only the oldest RHD 356 in the UK, but also one of the oldest in the world. The model ran for nearly two decades from 1948-65 and was designed by Ferry Porsche himself, the dude responsible for the company.

Imagine having the minerals to come along to the UK as a German manufacturer to try and flog your new sports car less than a decade after the Second World War came to an end. I wonder if anyone back then could predict just how much this little sports car would grow in not just size, but popularity and potential. History is just brilliant, isn’t it? #356

The famous Alex Penfold GT4. This car is without a doubt my favorite automotive story, seeing Alex rack up 140,000 miles as he travels the entire planet with it, taking it to his photography jobs around the world.
