Whistler World Cup weekend. Blitz mission to the promised land with Matt, Sage and Madoc to witness this monumental event. 🙌 Amazing riding with Matt, Josh, Laura, and Keith, including some trail moves waaay above my pay grade. Socializing with a toddler in tow was nearly impossible to coordinate, but we caught up with quite a few friends including some fly by hugs. Sunday was full-tilt adventure hiking down the track with Mads, and he crushed it. The crowds were loud, the energy was wild, and watching the race front and center was unreal. Drove home door to door in ~11 hours yesterday with one toddler projectile vomit incident, one quick lap in Bellingham, many Haribo gummies and two battery charges. The trip was Fueled by @pfriembeer … 🤣 Worth it.

September 13th- A day of celebrating and remembering. Today is Madoc’s 4th Birthday, and we got to celebrate it yesterday, (a day early) with Nikki and Matt at the Farm – complete with Madoc’s first trip to a County Fair where he saw barnyard races, mutton busting, and rode on rides and ate Mac and Cheese and cotton candy. A good time was had by all, and I don’t think Nikki hated it as much as she was afraid she was going to. 😊 Today is also Colin’s Birthday and the first one without Colin’s physical presence. The ache of his absence grows a bit less overwhelming since he left us for the cosmos at the end of February, and seeing his smile on Madoc’s face helps too. I re-read Colin’s letter to me, we toasted Colin with some Mezcal from our trip to Oaxaca in 2021, and leaned into creating joy for Madoc while reflecting on Colin. Thank you, Nikki for sharing Madoc with us on this first “My/Our” Birthday of his without his daddy, and sharing Colin and the sorrow of his loss on this day, and for allowing us to meet Matt – Colin had told me that I was to trust you and to be open-hearted and had assured me that you had good taste in men.

PNW summers 🌲🌊⛰️⛵️ August has been all about taking time off, resetting, and soaking in family time. From sailing in the San Juans with Matt and Mads, to winging in the gorge, to coastal biking adventures (with a side of dancing and a lack@of showers). Finding and making space to process and heal, laugh and cry, dream and create, and wrangle my chaos gremlin. Just a gentle reminder that we’re all out here doing the best we can. Be curious, avoid judgment, and extend a little grace to yourself and others. ❤️‍🩹

Snippets of July. Summer in the Hood with a trip to Bellingham and Idaho mixed in. Bikes, wind, swimming, friends, dogs, blueberry picking, sailing, dancing, singing and lots of Madoc adventures. Sage had two weeks at camp, and Hudson raced NW Tune Up and the Crankworx Canadian Open Enduro in Whistler. Matt has been a steady source of support as I navigate life after loss, encouraging me to keep moving, keep adventuring, and keep embracing life. ❤️‍🩹 Despite some hard things, there’s so much to be grateful for. Even so, this week brought more loss — Colin’s dad passed away, and I’m deeply thankful we got to say goodbye at Priest Lake. He was a wonderful, loving human who will be greatly missed.

Pit stop in Bellingham for @nwtuneup on our way to Priest Lake Idaho for a family vacation. Enjoyed staying on Matt’s boat with Madoc and Hudson. Managed to fit some really fun riding in, some dancing, seeing friends, race spectating, oh and the never ending toddler wrangling. It was fun cheering the boys on during the race and we even found the Margarita station at the end of the final stage! Looking forward to a week of sunshine and family as we make our way towards Idaho.

The silos of the eastern Gorge provided a bountiful harvest for two wave-hungry explorers. We explored the depths of the fever dream that is the Biggs to Rufus run and found the outer limits of glide. The swells were mountainous. It was like riding the giant sand worms of Arakis out there. I am so grateful for this one precious life and the people I get to share it with, in these beautiful places I call home. February reminded me that health is wealth…Mom suffered a T12 vertebral fracture, and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to fly home with her for a brief trip…she does not need surgery, and is on the mend ❤️‍🩹 thanks to family and our family of friends who rallied around to support her 🙏🏽
