Literally exhausted but she’s done! What a journey that was and I’m looking forward to not stitching fur again for a while 😅 Closeups to come of my Tree Kangaroo for the #endangeredspecieschallenge !!

Swipe to see how it started vs. how it's going 😆 I'm classifying this #EndangeredSpeciesChallenge as complete. Technically, I'll be binding off the edges this evening, but the core of our tree kangaroo is done.

For March, I focused on #applique as a new technique and it was extremely challenging! So here are a few of my amateur tips (like pro tips, but from an amateur):
✨ Start small! I regret making this piece so big. It's ~ 20in wide and I would recommend doing half that if you're new to applique like me.
✨ Don't stitch anything down until you know where you want it to go - I did and ended up unable to make needed changes.
✨ Be patient while preparing your pieces! This part of the process is crucial and if you rush your tracing/cutting you'll regret it down the line.

Wait for it 🤩

As you may have seen yesterday, Cass from @huftgoldthreads dragged me out of hibernation to my first ever gem faire! Lucky to have a friend like her, really🥰

I wasn’t sure what to expect—turns out it was overwhelming and epic at the same time😂 Dozens of vendors, millions upon millions of discounted beads, as well as other booths with jewelry, crystals, and of course, gems. It was the sparkliest place on the west coast, or at least the greater Portland area🙃

Have you ever been to something like this? Would you do it again??

My finished Prepona butterfly! I loved it before the details and I love it even more now 🤩 Also thinking of adding this beautiful brown sparkle floss I recently acquired for some extra ✨ but haven’t decided yet.

The Prepona Butterfly can be found in the rainforests of South America and this species (preneste buckleyana) is quite rare 🦋 #endangeredspecieschallenge
