The Cobbler My Dad and I hadn't been up a hill together for nearly three years. Which is strange because my Dad is the person I started mountaineering with. Our most memorable day out was summitting Sgurr Alasdair on our third attempt, or doing The Inn Pinn on our second attempt in Summer. The weather on Skye can be so unpredictable and we always turned back when we felt conditions had become unsafe, hence why we took a few attempts for those Munros. My family home is only a few hours from Skye and my Dad and I had many adventures in the Cuillins over the years. We'd listen to "A Rush of Blood to the Head" by Coldplay when driving down the twisty road to Glenbrittle Campsite. I always think of that as the Skye album now. The Cuillins remains my favourite place to Mountaineer, but the Arrochar Alps is becoming special to me too. I suggested The Cobbler because it's one of Scotland's most well known hills and I still hadn't summitted it. It's also not far from Glasgow. It was a really fun day and we will definitely be up more hills together this year. It rained all day and I couldn't care less because I was dry in my new Mountain Equipment Manaslu Hard Shell. The fog cleared intermittently to give dramatic views of The Cobbler, it's a proper looking mountain despite it being small. It's pointy and rocky, not round and grassy. It's not a Munro, it's a Corbett. Some of the best days we've had have been on Corbetts, such as Suilven and Stac Pollaidh. My first Bothy experience was the Suilven bothy. When my Dad told me what a bothy was and how they were free to hikers to stay in I didn't believe him at first. "FREE?". I loved reading the Bothy Book, people from all over the place had stayed there, and I wrote a little description about my Dad and I. We got down just in time for the parking ticket to run out. An idyllic day in the Arrochar Alps.

Ratho Quarry I've been climbing at Ratho indoors lots and lots of times, and outdoors has always intrigued me. A month ago, my dad was up in Glasgow for a few days so I went with Beardy and Kit. Kit and I lead a 6b and then Beardy had a go on top rope and got half way up, I reckon he can do that one, we'll need to go back. He hasn't climbed in 2 or more years and we were impressed with the shapes Beardy pulled. Kit sent a 7a+. I fell on it a lot on top rope, the crux is a massive move which I have to really really commit to, and go for the hold dynamically. Definitely a project for me. And then we finished on some slab which hurt my feet! Last photo shows Kit eating some white raspberries, Beardy pointed them out to us. THEY'RE DELICIOUS! Superior to pink raspberries by a mile! #rathoquarry #eica #rockclimbing #beardy

Dumby projecting Jason, my Dad and I went to Dumby. Dad was photographer and belayer. Jason and I started off on Persistence on top rope and then moved onto Jason's project Application of Violation on top rope. Who knows how we'll clip second clip on Application, it will require some Sophie heel hook wizardry I reckon. I am going to work the 6s at Dumby and work systematically up the grades at Dumby. Also excited to try more bouldering there. I'm a Dumby fan for sure. Just need to save up for cams, bouldering mat... #dumby #dumbyisgoodyoucantdenyit #dumbyrock

Gold Duke Of Edinburgh Award Ceremony ⭐ Got the shock of my life when I turned up to the Gold DofE Award ceremony at Buckingham Palace gardens and everyone was wearing £1000 dresses or cufflinks. I got the dress code a tad wrong. My idea of formal was my finest mountain gear. The photos of me standing in front of Buckingham Palace wearing a Mountain Equipment jacket and a Huel t-shirt will be a joke in my family forever. Photo 4 is of the Buckingham Palace courtyard. I sneaked a photo before a Policeman with a large gun told me to put away my phone. Other highlights of mine and my Dad's trip to London included going on the plane for the first time, seeing a Bentley in Chelsea, looking round Soho and going to @crumbsanddoilies, looking in Anthropologie and wishing I could buy all of the dresses, and generally taking in the buzz of the capital. The video show how annoyed my dad was at having to pour his coffee down the drain at security in the airport. I did warn him no liquids! He hadn't been on a plane for over 20 years, maybe the rules were different back then! Also, to round off the day, my dad and I missed our flight home. We spent too long in Tate Modern! Getting out of an airport when you've missed your flight is actually very hard! #dukeofedinburgh #dofe #golddofe #buckinghampalacegardens #buckinghampalace
