After years of turning down hosting requests, I finally said yes.

Over the weekend, the BVI Film Commission held its first film festival and I was invited to host Saturday evening’s “Reels and Meals.” 🎞️

When the email came in, I knew I had to say yes. As someone who makes their mouth loud about supporting creatives, I try to make my actions loud too.

Hosting is probably one of the most cringe inducing things a person can do. 😂

Unlike content creation, you can’t edit out the parts you didn’t like or re-shoot the lines you thought of a more clever way to say. You just have to live with what comes out your mouth and whatever mistakes you make in real time.

It’s certainly a field day for anxiety, but I did it scared.

I guess similar to rejection therapy, we can all benefit from ✨cringe therapy✨

Maybe if we actively seek out opportunities to possibly embarrass ourselves, possibly suck, that we’ll become less afraid of it entirely.

Thank you for the invitation @bvifilm! 🇻🇬
And thank you for this beautiful dress @shelikesbvi!

happy international women’s day 💖

meet @humansare0verrated - a crucian queen, rania’s mommy & artist (you’ll catch her songs Lovers & Lucid throughout this video) ✨

nadia’s story is so special because she navigated all of her trauma with the utmost grace. she’s giggling a lot but truthfully, it’s not cool that she was vocalizing her pain, on multiple occasions, to doctors & she was dismissed.

black women are dying during childbirth at much higher rates than white or hispanic women and this is the reason why - our pain is constantly dismissed and we are forced to be silent.

i’m so proud of nadia for continuously advocating for herself 🙏🏾

pls check out her story & share + stream her music 💃🏾🫶🏾
