October 17th and 22nd were two killer shows filled to the brim with blast beats. My new grind band Bonehemorrhage opened both of these up. The first of two took place in Chaz's Corner at Realms Arcade and the latter took place at the classic Shredder. The boys in Necrotizing are always sick to see live. They're truly one of the hardest working and most unique bands here in the Idaho heavy music scene. These guys have such an immense passion for sick underground shit. This was a dope tour kickoff set for them! Lead Dispenser was the last band I caught for the first of these two shows. I had to leave early, so unfortunately I missed out on Herb and Weapon World, but I'm REALLY hoping they return soon! Lead Dispenser was sick as fuck, they're super fast and intense new powerviolence from Idaho Falls and it's cool to see them also getting out on the road soon! Moving onto the second show, Onsetter absolutely tore shit up, like they always do. They have such an immense, heavy and hard hitting sound that always translates great in a live setting. This band fucks hard. Merked from Oakland CA put on a killer performance of powerviolence! This was a pretty fun set all around. Respect to them powering on even through a sickness! The hometown legends Hummingbird of Death then closed the night out with a relatively short but sweet display of high velocity fastcore! They performed as a two piece for this show, due to an injury in the band and they still kicked so much ass!

August 16th marked the second and final day of Boise Slaughterfest Vol. 3. All of the bands that played on this day were Texas Ketamine, Hummingbird of Death, Chronic Illness, Curbside Carnage, Pen1s Envy, Price of Pain, Torrent, Carve, Kvrma, Mac Gun and Chemical Castration. Chemical Castration kicked off the day with an unfortunately shortened set due to technical difficulties, but they still sounded fuckin awesome! Mac Gun then delivered a fun set filled to the brim with Halo themed grindcore! Kvrma put on a crushing and energetic set, like they always do! Band rips! Carve then delivered another one of the most violent sets of the weekend, holy shit this band rips! They've gotta be one of my favorites in Boise hardcore right now. Torrent played some BRAND NEW material and it sounded fucking TIGHT! These boys are always so fun live. Price of Pain then put on a crushing assbeater of a set. Pen1s Envy then slammed with a super tight and heavy set of fungal slams that got people moving. Curbside Carnage did the same with their brand of beatdown that also made for a killer set. Chronic Illness absolutely ripped with a solid display of pure death metal for all the headbangers! Hummingbird of Death had another one of the best sets of the entire weekend overall for me. Texas Ketamine closed out the weekend with an unsurprisingly brutal and heavy set of assbeater slams and brutal death metal.
