Following our closing screening, join us for a #panel discussion with the artists involved in our #2026CommissioningFundProgram and MiniCommissionsProgram. From a cohort of interdisciplinary artists spanning practices in street dance, visual arts, live performance, and experimental film, we’ll learn more about how their unique relationships to movement informed their interpretation of a curatorial theme. This intimate conversation will lift the veil on their journeys from the initial sparks of inspiration to the completion of a final film.

🎃 HG HALLOWEEN 2 VS 2 OPEN STYLES BATTLE

October 25 | 7:00–9:30 PM
📍 Gold Saucer Studio (The Dominion)
207 W Hastings St, Vancouver, BC

DJ AJ on the decks. Judge TBA.

Costumes strongly suggested for all battle dancers. We’re artists — come flex that creativity!

Traditionally, you don’t battle at a battle you’re hosting… but we’re bending the rules a little. At HG, we’re opening our doors to get some rounds in, build our battle experience, meet our new Season 9 members, and share the floor.

Some of our dancers have been battling for years, others are just stepping into it. Wherever you’re at, come get some rounds in, learn, connect, and level up with us in the Halloween spirit!

Entry: Cash at the door or e-transfer.

Questions? Hit us up!

One month in and we’ve already been moving through Popping, Hustle, Hip Hop, Campbellock & Breaking.

Building foundations, exploring styles, putting in work and finding our own flavour along the way.

Just the beginning. Higher Ground Season 9 🔥

The Mini Commissions Program is a space for high-school aged #Youth (15-18) to experiment with movement and film in a supportive environment. Tasked with creating a 1-3 minute short film that utilizes movement to respond to the theme of information overload, artists participate in skill-building workshops on producing, sound design, and experimental editing over the summer.
