Every body is a dancer's body.

Join us at the UK's first conference dedicated solely to body image in dance on Monday 26 October 2026 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham.

Body Perspectives: Re-evaluating the Ideal will bring together dancers, clinicians, researchers, educators and nutrition specialists for a full day examining how the dance sector can build healthier body image cultures, from vocational training through to professional company life.

This is not a conference about appearance. It is a conference about how body image affects participation, wellbeing, performance, health and culture in dance, and what we can do about it. Attendees leave with evidence-based knowledge, practical tools, meaningful connections, and concrete actions they can implement immediately.

Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day ♿🤍

My SCI and conus nerve damage changed my life completely. It has been painful, hard, exhausting and unfair at times. But it also introduced me to wheelchair dance, community, creativity and a version of myself I am proud of.

I will never “recover” but I am learning to adapt, grow and live fully anyway.

Today is for disabled joy, honesty and everyone navigating life with SCI ✨

An overdue Q1 update after the BUSIEST couple of months for me and my typewriter🙌🏼 Plus highlights I haven’t shared yet from other exciting poetry bits I’ve been working on recently...

🎨Writing poetry on demand on my typewriter for the Street Art Solihull launch with the always amazing @wearecalathea

🫟Announced @ourwords_ourwalls , an @aceagrams funded poetry and mural project in North Solihull in collaboration with @kholtom_creative

🪩Writing poetry for guests at @hungry2move’s In Conversation: Body Image and Dance event - such an important dialogue between young dancers and their body image

🍻Popped up on my typewriter in a pub in Camden as part of @etcetera_theatre_camden’s Women Writers Festival (where I proved my own point that poetry is for EVERYONE - even the unassuming football lads!)

☀️Living the dream writing at The @southbankcentre for the launch of the Our Freedom: Then & Now exhibition with @futureartscentres in advance of it’s UK tour

🌟A huge thanks to @weareepicuk for awarding me with their Nudge fund grant, which will help tenfold in growing my typewriter poetry practice

🎭 Sat in the VIP area writing poetry on demand for special guests at the Mayor of Solihull’s charity event, Solihull shines at @coretheatresol

🎬 Starting work on producing and filming three poetry films for @rural_media’s Artflix commission

I am knackered in the best possible way and absolutely THRIVING.

With thanks to @anthonyshintai, @rab.photog and @danmartinartist for the gorgeous snaps

In honour of Yellow Rose and everything that it stands for, we are taking part in Alzheimer’s Charity 10K Run in Saucony, London on Sunday 12th July to raise money for people living with dementia and their families.

We are donating all our ticket proceedings from our show at Resolution Festival of New Choreography but we need your help to raise a total of £500. A little goes a long way, so anything you can give, we will be extremely grateful for!

The link to our GoFundMe is in our bio now.

Sometimes it’s not just about the event… it’s about the people you meet along the way ❤️

A few really special full-circle moments from the Body Image & Dance event:

@milly_best_
✨ Someone I mentored this time last year, now thriving, smiling, and working in the dance space. A real reminder that backing yourself (and others) matters.

@lou_platt_
✨ Meeting Lou from wellbeing support in person, after just sharing how much her work supported me through my recent performance journey. The timing… perfect.

@natalie_lauraa
✨ Connecting with one of the event team and realising how small (and connected) the industry really is! I know her bro @domtho93

Melissa Perkins
✨ And a surprise reunion with one of the speakers… who turned out to be my secondary school teacher 🥹 Full circle doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Moments like this remind me why getting out, connecting and building relationships is so important.

You never know who you’ll meet, reconnect with, or how paths might cross again.

People really are the magic.

A few weeks ago I attended ‘In Conversation: Body Image & Dance’ and I’ve been sitting with it ever since.

Huge credit to @romywhai and the @hungry2move team for creating such a powerful and necessary space ❤️

As someone who isn’t a dancer, but has always been connected to movement (from street dance as a teen to using it in recent performance), I found the conversations really eye-opening.

One thing that stuck with me…

The mirror.

Dancers train with it constantly.
Watching themselves. Adjusting. Analysing.

As an actor, I rarely do that. I rely on direction, instinct, feeling.

It made me wonder, how much does that shape how performers see themselves?

And what happens when the mirror is taken away… and it’s just you and the stage?

I’d love to hear thoughts from dancers on this 👀
