Some short videos for the Thai restaurant @hungrymonkeyuk. We shot everything in ambient light and on an iPhone to give it an extra helping of authenticity that - hopefully - the Instagram algorithm will eat up.

The eight videos were shot in two hours, which is amazingly fast.

Many years ago - in what feels like another lifetime - I used to eat at the same Thai restaurant in Hove every weekend. I think I first visited in 2003 and it was so good I kept going back on a weekly basis until I moved to London in early 2012. Ever since, I’ve searched for a replacement, but nothing quite matched it.

We always ordered the same meals, saw the same people. The staff felt like extended family. One of them, Yoong, was especially warm and smiley. I saw her throughout her pregnancy and after the birth of her daughter - who’s now a young woman at university! After I left Sussex, we stayed in touch online. I loved seeing her launch her own place, Hungry Monkey, and often implored her to open a place in London.

Recently I spotted that Hungry Monkey had teamed up with Thai Connection, and everything came full circle. Last night, I was in Hove for an event and happened to walk down Blatchington Road. Something clicked - and I followed my footsteps and ended up outside Thai Connection. Yoong’s husband spotted me taking photos and I dashed inside to find her there. Same big smile. Same generous spirit. She insisted on cooking me the most incredible takeaway on the spot before sending me off to my event.

A real full circle moment. If you’re ever in Hove, go to 14 Blatchington Road. Let Yoong and the Hungry Monkey team feed you. It might just be the best meal of your life - and you may find yourself coming back every week!

More gestures of solidarity in the independent shop windows of Shoreham.

This local community are helping more than they know.

If you want to pop something in your window to support, there's still time. Contact Emma @neighbourhoodstore_shoreham

Or @thesoldshop for great props!

Once everyone's windows are done, we will walk you through the town, up to Adur Rec where it's all happening.

Not long now!!

Finally got to try a takeaway from the new Thai restaurant that’s just opened up in Shoreham @hungrymonkeyuk !!!

Staff were lovely and more than happy to make the all items in my order vegan. We had the:

-Tofu pad thai
-Laksa soup with rice noodles
-Tofu massaman curry
-Sticky rice
-Vegetable tempura
-Spring rolls

The laksa was my favourite out of all the dishes, but everything was absolutely delicious. The massaman had a lovely coconut flavour, and you really can’t beat a classic pad thai. Even the plain rice noodles for the laksa came topped with crispy onions, beansprouts, and spring onion. Seemed like a lot of time and care was put into each dish. It’s best to order in advance as they are unsurprisingly popular. Will definitely be ordering again soon :)

This is a teaser video for @hungrymonkeyuk - we'll be launching a @kickstarter campaign later in the week. I thought that @yoongshine was so funny (when we were making the main video) I kept all the outtakes - they then naturally fell together to make this. 😂😂😂
