Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who was able to come to the exhibition. I spent the semester making paper and creating a memorial to my mother. Who will be forever immortalized in these paper lanterns and photos.

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening and also went after the fact to see the work. It was very special to talk with many people who I haven’t been in contact with for a long time, as well as those I see weekly.

Have you wondered where I’ve been? Doing my art thesis, of course! Finished my senior year off strong after many (too many 😭) late nights and lots of blood sweat and tears. What a successful opening to showcase my final art BFA work! More pictures of behind the scenes coming soon. 🤫

Some snippets from our Dingle, Ireland painting workshop! I absolutely loved working alongside Kristen, Lucy, Pat, Annie and Billy. 10 days, wind, goats, and a total of at least 80 paintings between all of us.

Get ready for these artists and presses at the Book & Zine Fair tomorrow! @aidenwlkr is an artist, poet, and printmaker who makes zines and chapbooks. @bordercholly has made Knights of the Road, a small tabletop RPG contained in 3 small zines. @hunsingp and her Ithaca College class will bring zines they’ve worked on this semester. Allen Avery will bring "The Devil's Ballad,”a literary crime novella, focusing on a small, fictional upstate town, where a cast of characters' lives are intertwined during the early 1990s. And @erindorney is a writer and zinester based in Saranac Lake, NY who makes zines, stickers, art, collage, and more. #bookandzinefair #buffalostreetbooks #springwritesithaca #zinefest

Just finished two weeks of intense papermaking at Womens Studio Workshop’s Summer Arts Institute @wsworkshop, with interesting, focused, friendly, creative participants in both sessions! As usual at WSW, a wonderful mix of women bringing a breadth of ideas and experience to the work. A chance to handle and study artists books from the significant collection that WSW has published over many years (a page from @paperhouse17 Ann Marie Kennedy’s book, Plant Dreams, shown here). And, a sweet chance to spend time with old friends, WSW founders, artists Tatana Kellner @tatana1950 and Ann Kalmbach @annkalmbach. Truly a lovely and full couple of weeks! A special thanks to the interns, and especially Chris @chrismpetrone, studio manager, who keep the studios ready and running! And with thanks to Erin and Lauren, current WSW directors, for the opportunity to come back to this wonderful art center. (Many of the artists books published by WSW are available to view in the online archive: https://wsworkshop.org/artists-books/new-artists-books-from-wsw/) The last three images are work by: @alexa_grace_art, @dell.penny & @funlolacoker - with apologies for not having good images of so much other work that was produced.

#20yearsofchange LP & Ithaca Ink Shop/TIS, NY Portfolio Exchange

Each day we will be introducing you to one artist from each studio and sharing some insights into their print from the 20 Years of Change Portfolio.

LP Artist Áine Finnegan
CHANGE ➡️ SLOW
Mono print and collograph
€150

Áine uses her practice to map her personal experiences and her encounters of the human existence. Through her work she questions how she experiences the world and the way
in which she consumes these experiences. She references natural elements like clouds
and uses celestial symbols to try understand and map these experiences for herself
and for the audience.

The title of this piece of work is ‘CHANGE ➡️ SLOW’. This piece has both a personal narrative and a societal narrative. She questions her own reasoning on why she is constantly looking for instant change and on the demand success. She now is beginning to recognise that change is slow enough as to be almost imperceptible. The process of creating this print allowed the artist to slow down. The process of making the collagraph and watching the cloud dripping was slow, which allows time for the artist to reflect on change
She leaves this piece open to be interpreted as societal change. She is giving permission to the audience to create their own understandings from it.

TIS Artist Patricia Hunsinger Against All Odds
Screen Print

'The candle flame burning under water represents hope for the future and success. Since, The Ink Shop opened 20 years ago, it has undergone many transformations and three major moves. In 2002 I had just finished grad school and moved back near Ithaca, New York when I found out about The Ink Shop. I was so thrilled to find out we had such a fantastic facility nearby where I lived. I am an avid supporter of TIS and look forward to celebrating yet another 10 years with it.'

Patricia grew up in Central New York State. Received her MFA from Ohio University and teaches print media at Ithaca College, NY.
