🏆 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR OUR TEAM! 🏆

I couldn’t be more proud of Ty and Jake for what they accomplished this weekend in French Ring.

Jake stepped onto the trial field for the very first time and earned a PERFECT 100 out of 100 in the Brevet! This was Jake’s first time competing in any dog sport, his first trial with Unati, and Unati’s first trial as well. To perform like that under the pressure of a trial is an incredible accomplishment.

Ty earned a perfect 100 out of 100 in his Brevet just a couple of weeks ago, then came back this weekend and competed in Ring 1. He and his dog delivered two beautiful first-place performances, completing what they needed to move on to Ring 2!

What makes this even more meaningful to me is that both Ty and Jake began their careers in dog training under me. Watching them grow into skilled trainers and handlers—and then step onto the field alongside great dogs and experienced competitors—is something I’m incredibly proud of.

The truth is, dog trainers aren’t all created equal. At Innovative K9 Academy, we never want to become comfortable or assume that what we already know is good enough. We are constantly working to improve our skills, refine our system, and become better trainers.

French Ring gives us the opportunity to test our training against some of the best dog trainers and handlers—not only in the country, but from around the world. It allows us to see how our training holds up under real pressure, identify where we can improve, and continue developing a better system for our clients and their dogs.

Dog sports test far more than obedience. They test your preparation, timing, trust in your dog, ability to think under pressure, and composure when things don’t go exactly as planned. Both of these guys showed that they have what it takes.

Congratulations, Jake and Ty! You represented yourselves, your dogs, and Innovative K9 Academy incredibly well. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of you! 🇺🇸🐕🏆

Last week we completed Advanced E-Collar at @huntercanine 🐉
An absolute game changer in deepening your connection as an owner/handler. The class teaches off leash skills alongside real-life distractions. Not to mention, the unforeseen scenarios that happen with about 20 dogs in close proximity (and off leash at times).

We have attended Hunter Canine’s obedience classes since Drogon was 4 months old. Without a doubt, he would not display the obedience he does without their guidance. “But, it’s just a class 1 hr/week for 6 weeks…” & in that hour YOU learn how to handle your dog. IMO it is a nonnegotiable when bringing a guardian breed into your family…🐾

& if you don’t have the time/dedication or resources to invest in a breed like a Corso, for the love of God don’t bring one home.

Not sure why I am on the smaller place bed except it does have my name on it. Anyway, mom said I need to show the kid how to behave, so here we are, behaving, enough for her to take out that dang phone and get a photo 📸 Happy Fri-YAY! #training #dogtraining #chocolatelab #chocolatelabs #chocolatelabpuppy #dog #dogs #dogsofinstagram #puppy #puppylove #puppylife #sisters #labs #labsofinstagram #labstagram #dogstagram #puppygram #instadog #instapuppy #kaiyaandkenzie #dogphoto #insta #instagram

For the past 6 weeks, @k8tbg06 and I have been fully in the trenches of dog training— twice a day, every single day. (first video shows where we started 😅) It’s been a lot of work, a lot of meltdowns and a lot of learning (for all of us 😅).

But today? Today was one of those moments that reminded us exactly why we’ve been putting in the effort. On the very first try in a public place, Peanut followed the commands we’ve been working so hard on — calm, focused, and totally in the zone. We were seriously blown away AND proud! 🥹🐶✨

She’s not perfect, and neither is her sidekick Riley, but they’re both making real progress — and that’s what it’s all about.

Huge thanks to the amazing folks at @handoverrover, @thathandygirl_90, @vedadogtraining and @huntercanine for giving us the tools, structure, and encouragement to keep showing up and showing our dogs how to thrive. We couldn’t have done it without that support.

Here’s to the little wins that feel big — and the pups who make it all worth it. 💛
